Your favicon is larger than it should be (16px x 16px) perhaps this is why Backlight is not recognizing it?

this page: http://www.ljdservice.com/ is using a custom css file named custom-sample.css
it seems to be working. Your page has a red background, which is what that file is doing.
If you were expecting something different, make sure that you've uploaded your own custom css file to backlight/custom/css and that you've selected it in the page template you're using under Advance Setup

It looks like the file is a JPEG. Favicons must be either ico or png files.
