I just posted this question on the CE4 section as well. I put up on line a single CE4 Stage page in order to show a slideshow to a friend. Nothing special, no navigation, no nothing save the slideshow.
But, when I try to access the slideshow, I get a Backlight error message. But there is no Backlight installation at this address.
What's going on here?

could be because there is a Backlight installation at that site (http://pideja.ca/backlight/admin/?a=login). My guess is that the .htaccess file sees the v4a/index.php file and is trying to pair it with something from backlight. Just a guess though.

Exactly what is in the v4a folder?

The v4a folder is in the root folder on my server and contains a single mp4 file. I use it to show a colleague a slideshow we are working on. he is no Backlight involved at all although I do have one or two backlight installations. I guess the problem might come from a Backlight site I am working on that is also in same the root folder.
Should I have tried to include this Stage presentation in the Backlight ?

You can use Theater to present html5 video in basically the same way you used Stage with Publisher

Then I should think a URL pointing directly at the mp4 file should work just fine. I you're going to use the above URL, then you need an index.html or index.php file in the folder on which visitors can land.

So, I've decided to have a go at it with Backlight. Why look back, "n'est-ce pas"?
I have the theater module within Backlight/modules;
I've made a (primitive) design of a theater gallery to house the video;
Publisher album has been set up, complete with thumbnail;
video files are uploaded to the Backlight/videosrc folder;
The video won't show. What did I miss?

Found the mistake: the videosrc files was misplaced. Instead of placing it at the root of my server, I placed it in the backlight folder.
Now up and running.
