Building a temp. site pideja.ca/nat. One main HOME page and two language pages identical (save for text). After many, many hours of tinkering and lots of help, the En side is done, OK.
In order to save time, and to be sure both sides would look the same, I copied the En folders&files on the server to the Fr side. I then updated all the links to read pideja.ca/nat/fr.
At first, it worked great.
The problem is with Publisher and the Galleries page. For some reason, the En gallery thumbnails linger on the french page. Also, Publisher always returns a duplicate gallery found message.
I can't find where is the offending code that mixes up the gallery.

Did you remember change the site URL for the fr site in Settings?
Also, when you copied everything over you probably copied the database. I'm not positive, but the db probably contains some location info.
A better approach might have been to export your page, album, and album set templates from the en site and then import them to the fr site.

Did you delete the galleries on your french site and re-create them in Lightroom? If not, that's what you should do to avoid conflicts with Lightroom's Publisher module. You can directly delete them in /nat/fr/Backlight.

I should have added that you will need two Publisher services in Lightroom, one for the english and one for the french pages.

I set up two Publisher services, on for French the other for English. The gallery name are identical: can this cause a problem? Lightroom always returns duplicate gallery found.
How can I do a complete erase of the French side and start over?

one reason may be that the copied over site has album information in the database already.
On the FR side you could try going to Publisher > Top Level Galleries and click on albums. If the albums show up, then try deleting them.
Click on the album name and then click on Delete.

Might have been hasty: I deleted all of the folders and files from the Fr side. Starting over!

this time, don't simply copy over everything from the EN side. Install fresh and go through the Settings.
Export your templates from the EN site and import them into the FR site.
Re-create any stand-alone pages.
Publish your albums through the FR Publisher instance in Lightroom.
