Does Backlight support the Sublocation metadata tag that you can add to an image through Lightroom? I don't see it anywhere in the list of supported tags. If not, what can be used as a similar general location tag?

All supported metadata tokens are documented here:

I'll try and see whether this is stored somewhere that is retrievable via the Metadata library we use.

Initial efforts haven't been successful. Trying to retrieve metadata for either sublocation or subLocation throws errors. I can't see any way of forcing Lightroom to reveal all metadata names that are available to Publisher in order to find the name to use.

You could try using John Beardsworth's Search and Replace plug-in to copy the metadata to a field that is accessible to Publisher.

I'd be interested to see whether that can work with Sublocation. If so, then it would imply we could access the field too. Rod, do you have a copy to try?
On the metadata we can access, the Lightroom SDK provides a list of all available fields. There's no mention of Sublocation. This isn't surprising as the SDK is almost unchanged through multiple versions of LR.

Hi Ben,
I do have a copy of that plug-in. I assumed that Sublocation would be accessible, but I just looked and unfortunately Sublocation is not on the list of source fields available.

For what it's worth, I also have Jeffrey Friedl's Metadata Viewer plug-in and Sublocation is viewable in that plugin

Interesting. It looks like Jeffrey's plugin pulls the value out of the image file itself rather than obtaining it from Lightroom, as our plugin does (with Jeffrey's own metadata code).
I'd love to have the expertise to write LR plugins like Jeffrey and others do. It's a whole other world compared to relying solely on the hooks provided by the SDK.

It sounds like the simple answer to my question is no. I'm going to try just using another metadata tag like city and see if that does what I need.
