When I try to save a change in e.g. Page Settings -> Page Copy or any setting in album/albumset etc I get an error message:
Unable to save settings. Error 501
Apparently I'm not allowed to save anything to my server.
Anyone an idea how to solve this?
On the server I found the error log, saying:
ModSecurity: Access denied with code 501 (phase 2). Match of "rx (?:^(?:application\\\\/x-www-form-urlencoded(?:;(?:\\\\s?charset\\\\s?=\\\\s?[\\\\w\\\\d\\\\-]{1,18})?)??$|multipart/form-data;)|text/xml)" against "REQUEST_HEADERS:Content-Type" required. [file "/etc/httpd/modsecurity.d/modsecurity_crs_30_http_policy.conf"] [line "69"] [id "960010"] [msg "Request content type is not allowed by policy"] [severity "WARNING"] [tag "POLICY/ENCODING_NOT_ALLOWED"] [hostname "www.temmingtekst.nl"] [uri "/cassan/backlight/designer/index.php"] [unique_id "WIsIHFTxsYMAA2@ovIMAAAAI"]

There is an incompatibility between the request to save the form and mod_security configured on your server. Who are you hosting with? I suggest you provide the above error to your hosting support.
It would be helpful to find the contents of that rule, if your host is able to provide it. We may be able to tweak our code to work around it, as we have for other rules in the past.

Thanks for your answers.
My hosting company is in the Netherlands: your-webhost.nl
They show the permissions of each directory (so also the backlight/data directory) as 755. Which should be ok.
I changed the permissions to 777 for the datadirectory and all the subdirectories. This does not solve the problem.
Should I change permissions to other directories as well?
PS. I can publish my photos from lightroom

I sent the error messages to my service provider. They fixed it. And now it works!!
Thanks all for your suggestions!

That's great! Can you ask your host for the specific mod_security rule that then disabled or altered?

For the file /backlight/designer/index.php a special line is added in my account (I do not know what that means exactly)
and the mod_security line 960010 is disabled for this file.

Thanks. Can you download /backlight/designer/index.php and email it to me via the Email link under my picture? I'll review the line to see whether it can be incorporated into Backlight. Or if it can't be incorporated I'll find a way for you to keep the change without it being overwritten with future Backlight updates.
