Wordpress Columns

Hi,

On the CE4 wordpress plugin I had the main page with a sidebar for all my widgets and on a single post page I had them at full width.

The reason for this is that I don't mind selling to customers bits and bobs on a generic page but when they want to read an article I just want them to not get interference from anything else.

This was set in Theme Options on the Wordpress Appearance section but is not longer there on Backlight. Where has this option been moved to?

Thanks,
Terry

Re: Wordpress Columns

Hi Terry,

Backlight is fundamentally different than CE4. There's very little common DNA between them, and I would make the general recommendation that you not set your expectations for one based on past experience with the other.

In this case, the way that pages/templates are generated is completely different, and so it's a little complicated to create alternative layouts from a designer template. I would like to attempt to introduce alternate page layouts in a future version, but it's not there right now.

Re: Wordpress Columns

Hmmm as I was upgrading everything I thought it was all just improved (and I must say I like the fact it's all online and out of the web module - I hated that)

One for the future feature list then smile

We are making improvements in every way we're able. Still, CE4 was a mature product with many years of plugin development behind it. While we can lean on some of that experience with Backlight, it's also an entirely new application -- only out 7 months now -- with significant differences, and lots of room to grow.

Lol, yeah, you know I'll eventually transfer everything over and the world will be purely backlight and all will be right with the world big_smile  I probably jumped in too soon but the lure of online editing was too great smile - and I needed a project to do yikes

It's all looking great though and soo much nicer than the restrictions of the web module. Keep up the good work.

Re: Wordpress Columns

Thanks, Terry! And I wouldn't say you jumped in too soon. Backlight is a fully viable thing; there's just a lot more that we can do with it going forward, and I think that just makes it exciting. ;-)
