I just feel so miserable, having spend a whole day accomplishing absolutely nothing while trying to understand Backlight. If anything I´m more confused now than I was before starting.
The documentation is so weird. It throws you back and forth between concepts you have absolutely no idea what are, and I just dont see the structure. I just don´t. I usually don´t have a problem with things like this.
Are there any users who would be willing to spend 60 minutes with me logged on to Teamviewer and explain things to me, and answering questions along the way? I would pay 100 dollars for 60 minutes of ground laying support!

I would be happy to help since I had some of the same problems. Please, I will not accept any money, I want to pay it forward. I will give you my fone number but there is no email for you on your member page. Or you can email me directly at gary@garylittle.com. Just let me know. I have time today.

Perhaps it is a language matter.
I also have trouble understanding even basic information when I concentrate hard on a subject.
Do You speak and understand german?
Be assured. Client Response Module is made exactly for what You want to achieve. :-)

I think this is due to the structure of the documentation. There is so much that is just superficially explained. Above all I think the relationship between the concepts is really poorly described. I´ve always felt like this with The Turning Gate. There is just too much bad communication. The newsletters gave me a headache!
I´ve now spent 16 hours nonstop on this. I´m getting a little closer, entirely by experimenting.

I don't have that impression.
There have been some things I did not understand immediately. But the community ist great. There has not been a single problem that has not been solved in reasonable time.
For the manpower available Matt an Ben deliver a complex piece of software and are always helpful. TTG is not a company like Adobe who can throw a whole team at pre launch documentation and expect return on that investment during the first year.
I love what I got here.
Cheers

I don´t question the effort, not the least. But it takes something else to write skilfully about your skills...

Thanks, Michael!
Gary, I've redacted your telephone number for privacy, now that you guys have connected.
Mikkel, I've looked at your emails, and what you've described sounds pretty simple to me. The Pages Add-on should not be necessary. To outline your setup in basic terms:
1.
Install Backlight and Client Response Add-on in your webspace.
Install the Publisher plugin in Lightroom.
2.
Instead of using the default name of "galleries" for your publishing destination, you can name the folder "kunder" if you'd like. For logging in, though, you should send your customers to http://www.hjaerta.se/backlight/client-response/.
3.
Design your page and album templates. In the Add-ons section of the album template, enable the client response add-on features.
4.
In Backlight's admin menu, go to Client Response => Settings, and run through each of the pages there to configure your settings, profiles, language preferences, etc.
5.
Go to Lightroom. Create an album in Publish Services. In the album settings window, click the Integration tab:
Set Client Management as "Managed by Client Response Admin".
Enable feedback, and select a feedback profile to use (you should have created at least one profile in step 4, above).
6.
Once you have an album or albums online, return to Backlight, in the menu go Client Response => Clients. Create a client account, assign albums, etc.
You can then send the login to your client and allow them to work with the galleries.
If you need technical assistance any with the steps above, try to ask specific questions about where you're getting stuck.

Thank you!
1. How do I change the text "Albums assigned to you" that is on the first page when they log in?
2. How do I change the layout on that first page? Now it has single column rows with every other line with a grey background.
Appreciate your advice!
Thanks!
Thanks, Michael!

How do I make the file names visible in the grid and in the slideshow in Client Response galleries?

In Backlight's admin menu, Client Response => Settings => Localizations.
Click "Manage Localization" to edit text appearing on the page.
How do I change the layout on that first page? Now it has single column rows with every other line with a grey background.
At present, the layout of this page is not user-configurable. We hope to offer more features for user customization in the future.

You must log into Backlight's admin to assign albums to users. So, first publish an album from Lightroom, then log into Backlight to assign that album to users.
How do I change the text, color and positioning of the gallery help button?
Edit the album template in Backlight's Designer. Under the "Add-ons" section, where you enable and configure the client response options, there are options relating to the help button. The positioning cannot be changed.
How do I make the file names visible in the grid and in the slideshow in Client Response galleries?
Edit the album template in Backlight's Designer. Under the "Image Settings" section, then the "Image Metadata" subsection. Set either of the Thumbnail Metadata fields to "{Filename}" (without quotation marks). To display in the slideshow, set Photos Caption to also include this.
Finally, under the Thumbnail Presentation section, locate the "Metadata Display" subsection, and switch on the desired item containing your filename assignment.
