Before Backlight I had two websites on my Bluehost account.
professional site —> public html/index.php
family site —> public html/family site/index.php
However I cannot see how I can repeat this process with Backlight. Backlight seems to work well for the primary website at "public html/index.php", but I can’t figure out how to have my family site exist in a subfolder and still use the main Backlight admin panel.
Do I just need to move my family site to a new account? or is there a way to keep the same functional structure as before and still use Backlight?
Can I add a second instance of Backlight to the subfolder "public html/family site/" and carry on with a different login and admin panel?

You can't use the same admin panel. To do what you want, you'd have to have two installations of Backlight, one in the root (public_html) and one in the family-site/ folder. (or a subdomain for the family site)

Yep. In fact, that's what most people are doing as they test Backlight or are preparing to upgrade their old sites.
(make sure you don't use any spaces in the name of your sub-folder though. family site/ should be family-site/)
The good news is that if you want the same design between the two sites, you can export your page templates from one and import them into the other.
