Missing default pages after setup

Hi

I've just installed Backlight 1.1.  After going through the setup page the home page opened ok (at nppsolutions.com), but the default place-filler pages for 'About' and 'Contact' are missing.  I have edited the About page in the designer, and can view the edited page in the browse, but it isn't linked from the home page menu.

Have I missed something?

Chris

Re: Missing default pages after setup

in your Backlight settings, under Website Settings, look to Page URL Format and change it to match what you have for the menu.

Your About page menu link goes to about/, so try setting the URL Format to match.

Re: Missing default pages after setup

Hi Rod

The Page URL format is set to about/.  Should there be folders named 'about' and 'contact'?

Re: Missing default pages after setup

Hi Chris, it looks like the .htaccess file isn't working.  Can you check whether this has been uploaded to the top of your site?

It isn't there... I can't see it in the downloaded package either.

Re: Missing default pages after setup

It should be in the unzipped Backlight-Pages-110 folder

Did you order Backlight or Backlight+Pages?

Re: Missing default pages after setup

in the unzipped Backlight-Pages-110 folder you should see:

backlight/
galleries/
TTG-Publisher.lrplugin/
.htaccess
index.php
readme.txt

I ordered Backlight + Pages.  I've just done another download, and .htaccess isn't there

Re: Missing default pages after setup

it might be hidden from your system.
If you're on Windows 10, go to Control Panel > File Explorer Options. Click on the View tab. Scroll down to Hidden Files and Folders and click the Show hidden files... radio button

if not on Windows 10, then just Google how to show hidden files and folders

Re: Missing default pages after setup

This can be done on the command line, but there's no menu option to do this.  It may be easier to enable viewing hidden files within your FTP application instead.  Which application are you using?

Re: Missing default pages after setup

That's great.  I'm surprised that in 2016 Apple still doesn't provide a Finder option to display hidden files.
FYI, this page covers how to change the setting: http://ianlunn.co.uk/articles/quickly-s … mavericks/
