When I publish my albums in Lightroom an album folder is uploaded to /galleries/ on my site. I can direct link to that folder and view my album, but I am denied access to /galleries/ as there is no index file. Using Backlight 1.04 without Pages. What am I doing wrong?

did you set permissions for the /galleries/ folder?

When publishing to the /galleries/ folder, Backlight should create all the necessary album set files. But it might not be if write permissions aren't set.

I tried both 755 and 777 on both the backlight and galleries folders - no luck. Only the album folder appears in the galleries folder

Under Backlight > Publisher > Top-level Galleries, is there anything listed?
This may be something that Ben will need to look at. He'll likely need a link to the site, Backlight admin access, and perhaps FTP access

You can try to (re)create them using Backlight > Publisher > Special Links > Update Album Files.

Galleries is listed as a Top Level Gallery and includes the album I created in Lightroom. But I cannot view Galleries - I get the access forbidden error. If I examine the contents of /galleries/ only the album folder is present.

you can also try clearing template cache:
Backlight > Designer > Templates > Clear Template Cache

Resolved - I deleted everything from my server and started fresh. /galleries/ is now populated with proper files. Thanks for the assistance.

Wonder what caused the problem in the first place? Maybe just a corrupt or missing file?
Anyway, glad it's working
