I went for clean design with white background.
The X mark to close the navigation tray is however always white so placing it on a white background makes it disappear

Hi Michael,
I think you can change the color of that button under UI Styling in the template designer.
It has an option for Button Background-color and I think that's where I changed mine.

Or you mean the smaller X inside the tray? I don't think there's a styling element in Backlight that covers this.
But I was fiddling a bit in the source code and was able to change it.
Take a look at this section:

In the section with the double spans:

...the second instance has a background color that you can change. Try changing that color in the page source in your browser. You can probably target it with custom CSS too.
