Hello. For a while I have been struggling with a seemingly simple problem.
I have to very different galleries on my web site and everything so far works fine.
But instead of having a simply one size fits all index page as the first point of entry I wanted to have a Ken Burns animation with two links to each of the different galleries.
The basic problem: How do I replace the Backlight index page with one of my choosing? I have tried editing .htaccess, have tried to erase it so the index.html of the designed page in question will be loaded (this breaks some of the functionality of Backlight) and so on. No luck.
I am no coder so a fairly simply solution would be most welcome.
Thanks to everybody

I think you'd have to place your preferred index page in the root of the site and the rest in a sub-folder. Others have done something similar using the old CE4 full screen slideshow (from CE4 Stage or Pages) as a welcome page with a link leading to the rest of the site, which is in a sub-folder or sub-domain.
Either that, or you could try using phplugins to insert the content you want into your existing Backlight-based index page.
Or wait to see what Matt and Ben come up with with Stage.

You could also just a Backlight page, and put your HTML into the content area.
