Enable downloads in the album template under Large Image presentation. Size limit is 2000px.
When visiting the album, click on the thumbnail to get to the large image. In the upper right is the "Share" icon (curvy arrow). Click on that and the download icon will appear.
You can also download from the thumbnails page by Control/Command-clicking a thumbnail. Matt has more on that in this blog post:

Might be an option later, for a separate, downloadable rendition of the file. But we haven't implemented any such thing yet. It's something we're looking into, and I'm not prepared to make promises either way at the moment. Keep an eye out for updates, though, if this is a feature that interests you.
