Different Metadata

I've two galleries, but one shows under the thumbs the filename, the other the caption and the filename.

Did not know what I did two days ago. It is not possible to change the first gallery to show only the caption without the filename.

In Lightroom (German) the caption is in - Bildunterschrift -.

Rainer

Edit: It seems that I have to upload all pictures once more?

Re: Different Metadata

Change those settings in the Album Template under Image Settings.

After making any metadata changes (whether to the template or to the image), you'll need to republish the images. There's a checkbox in Publisher set up called "Push Metadata without updating photos" or words to that effect. This will make the republishing much faster.

Re: Different Metadata

It does not work, I changed from - Caption - to - Title -, there are no changes I can see. I only want to show, where my metadata are in Lightroom. If I change in Backlight there are no changes visible.

Re: Different Metadata

Did you also republish the images? Changes won't be seen in the albums until you re-publish.

I only want to show, where my metadata are in Lightroom.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Re: Different Metadata

you can also set whether or not to show metadata on the thumbnails. In your Album template, go to Thumbnail Presentation and scroll to the bottom.

Re: Different Metadata

I meant that I set my caption of the images in Lightroom in the wrong field? Therefor the screen capture.

I will try tomorrow to republish the images with Lightroom.

Re: Different Metadata

In the german field - Bildunterschrift - (this was the caption in old TTG Gallery Slimbox) I have all my captions. They are shown under the images. If I change in the Metadata - Backlight - Album Settings - Image Settings - the Metadata 01, 02, Photos Caption, Photos Title, I cannot see any changes in my Thumbnails or under my images.

How exactly are you going about making these changes?
Are you using the proper metadata tokens in the fields?
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … ata_tokens

Are you republishing the images after you've made the changes in the Album template you're using?

Re: Different Metadata

If I write - test - in Lightroom in the title field an republish the image it appears. But my metadata from my old TTG Galleries are in the german field - Bildunterschrift - this is translated - caption -. If I change the metadata to - caption - nothing changes.

When I first uploaded the same album, the caption was under every thumb. So I must have maken a mistake, but which?

Re: Different Metadata

what about the metadata tokens? are you using the right ones? are they formatted correctly?
For example, for Captions, the token is {Caption}
I don't think it can be {Bildunterschrift}, in case that's what you're trying.

Can you post a screen shot of your settings for this in Backlight?

Re: Different Metadata

No, the tokens are right in English. In German version of Lightroom it is - Bildunterschrift - like on the screen capture right. In the German - Bildunterschrift - I wrote - caption - to show you, that it appears unter the thumb.

In Backlight there is - title -. Log in to my Backlight Admin.

Re: Different Metadata

This is what I see for the metadata setting in your album template:
rainer-metadata.jpg
{Caption} is not in the Thumbnail Metadata 01 field, {Title} is. If you want the caption to show, put {Caption} there.

Looking at your site, it appears that you're placing the token in the image metadata itself?

Re: Different Metadata

No I made a mistake with small letter - title - before I uploaded images. I didn't republished after correction. Republishing now. But your screen capture is correct. If I change the tokens from - title - to - caption -, I cannot see my text under the thumbs. Under the single image it appears, why? Don't know. If I delete the tokens in - Photos Caption - and - Photos Title -, the text in single image appears even so.

Re: Different Metadata

Can you leave {Caption} in the Metadata 01 field and try republishing. Right now, with the settings you have, you'll never see the caption under the thumbnails.

If I delete the tokens in - Photos Caption - and - Photos Title -, the text in single image appears even so.

your large image metadata is still set to show the Caption, so naturally, it will continue to show.
Any time you make a change to metadata, either changing or deleting tokens in Backlight or changing metadata in Lightroom, you'll need to republish to see any changes take effect.

Just the metadata. Check the "Push metadata without updating existing photos" check box

Re: Different Metadata

But sorry, one other question. I am working with custom.css. If I set under .the__gallery figure the with: 250px, the thumbs in the galleries are no longer centered. What can I do?

Re: Different Metadata

Ah, I see it now.

Looks like this is the css controlling it. It's inline so might be hard to override. Probably have to use !important

element {
    background-image: url("http://tripstrilles.myqnapcloud.com/galleries/01-nordamerika/01-alaska/01-alaska_2010/01-vancouver/thumbnails/IMG_0105.jpg");
    top: 42px;
    left: 27px;
    width: 168px;
    height: 113px;

it's the left positioning I think

at a guess the selector might be
.album-frame a

one other thing, and this is probably more about site performance. You've copied the entire Backlight css into your custom css file. This just doubles the css the browser has to pull it. Custom css should be just for css that's different from what's already being loaded.
What you're doing still works, it's just not best practice.

Re: Different Metadata

actually, changing the positioning won't work. It's likely calculate based on the cell width and thumbnail width. The thumbnail width will vary depending on if the image is horizontal or vertical.
So there may be nothing you can do about this other than making the cell widths wider in your template, which may or may not (I haven't checked) give you more space for the thumbnail metadata.
