Is there an option to download an image or images from the galleries?

yes. You'll find the setting in the Album Template > Large Image Presentation

Hi Rick, there is a setting in the Album template designer for this: enable Image Download in the Large Image Presentation section.

I have that option set but do not see any sort of Download icon on the large image page:

click the curving arrow at the top right of the large-image page.
