under advanced customization in the template design section, i can select 'show favicon'. There is a dropdown menu referencing images with the instruction Select from images uploaded in Templates > Upload Images. i cannot find /templates/upload images. where should the directory be?

Hover over the Templates Menu item and you'll see a fly-out with the Uploaded Images link. Upload images from that page.

Did you also go to the page template > Advanced Customization > Favicon and set Display Favicon to On?

Thanks. As Rod asked, did you enable Favicons in the page template designer?

Looks like he's figured it out. I see a favicon when I visit the link.

I have enabled the Favicons under Advanced Customization in Templates/Backlight Standard Page/Design too, but I cannot find any folder named Templates>Upload Images.
???

Not a folder. In Backlight's menu, look for Designer => Templates => Upload Images.

Thanks, I am sorry, because I have to translate all to German, now I have found it.

But which format? I have a file favicon-32.ico, but it will not shown in the browser.

I'm also using an favicon with the .ico extension. Works fine for me.
Is it appearing in the list on your Uploaded Images page?
Can you post a link to your Backlight site?

Is it a 32px favicon? Have you tried a 16px favicon?

i got it to work. though safari on mac os 10.11 does not display the favicon in the address bar any longer. only if you click in the address bar (or bookmark a site). this is not a backlight issue, it is just the way safari displays it now.

I can now approve this. It works only if you click in the adress bar. Both 16 and 32 pix. But not on IOS.

The favicon is included into the page in the standard fashion, in accordance with HTML5 specifications. How or whether individual browsers choose to make use of the item is beyond our control.
