Hi!
I would like to have different galleries on my home page as such;
HOME Portraits Still life Retouching About Contact
is there a way I can do this? Also is there a way to only have the thumbnails and not something above it ie a "slide show or full screen flip"?
I would love to have it just go to the list of thumbnails and I can't seem to figure it out.

sure.
There are a few ways of doing this.
If you're NOT using Publisher there are two ways I can think of:
1) export a gallery and upload the entire exported folder to the root of your site. For example, Still Life: Create and export your gallery. Name it "still-life" (no spaces or punctuation in the name) and upload it to the root of your site.
In your site navigation, add the gallery to your navigation. The label will be Still Life and the target will be /still-life/
OR
2) Export as above but upload to your /galleries/ folder as you would normally do. If you don't want the gallery to also appear on the Galleries page, just delete the gallery's autoindex.xml file.
Add the item to your navigation as above. The target will be /galleries/still-life/
If using Publisher, just publish an album as normal. (if you don't want the album appearing on your Galleries page, then under the Features tab, check "Hide from Auto Index".) Add the item to your navigation as above.
You'll need to add the new items to the navigation for Pages, plus all your autoindexes, and all galleries. If you're using Publisher you can just update the autoindex and gallery templates.
If you're using phplugins to manage your navigation, just add those items to the navigation html code.

Also... could you help me with this one..
When I look at the thumbnails they are pixelated, but when you go into the gallery they look fine. The images are not too small. Just don't know.

do you mean using phplugins to control navigation?
Are you using that now? If so, just copy one of the existing items, place it in the code where you want it to appear on the menu, and replace the name and url.
What it will look like depends on the navigation type your using. Using drop-down looks different than not using drop-down.

The thumbnails used in the autoindex (the Galleries page is an autoindex) are taken from the thumbnails folders in the galleries within that index. So if in the index you've designed for with a thumbnail size larger than the thumbnails the the gallery creates, then you'll see the quality loss you're seeing.
You're using the iconic layout, which is better suited to custom thumbnails.
You have a few choices.
Use smaller thumbnails in the index (Galleries page)
Use a different layout, like Descriptive in the index.
Make the gallery thumbnails larger.
Use custom thumbnails
