favicon and apple touch icon

I filled in the favicon and touch icon:

http://www.theomolenaar.nl/docs/favicon-ttg.JPG

They are not found however (the same thing works well in autoindex), It looks like it is still searching the icons in the default adress.... This is what I get if I look at the page code:

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

from the code you posted, the page is looking for the favicon within the template. you need to provide the address to where the favicon really is.

I get a 404 error when trying to view the favicon here:

also 404 error when trying to view the apple touch icon here:

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

Yes it looks that way.

However I did provide the adresses (see second link). And exported the template. But I thought I had the favicon there.. I put it in. The result is the same. The code is not looking where I specified the icon would be..

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

I don't know what's going on. Trying going directly to the favicon or the apple-touch-icon yields a 404 page not found error.

But as you note, the favicon shows up on your album sets, even though it's using the same address. And even from that page, the link to the favicon gets a 404 error.

Might have something to do with redirects? or some hosting issue?

the favicon is showing up in the template:
http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/ttg-be/ … top-image/

and the code in the template looks right:

    <link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" href="http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/tm-themes/apple-touch-icon.png" />

    <link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/tm-themes/favicon.ico" />

That's all I can tell. Maybe Matt or someone else will know the answer.

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

The favicon does not produce an error anymore. You can access it through

http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/tm-themes/favicon.ico

I did not think of looking in the template. Clever. But somehow the album seems to look in the template and not in in the place that is specified. The album set might look in the root... Since I put it there to...

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

double check the location in the template, then re-export and upload.

Also, since your home page is a WordPress page, it looks like it's looking for the favicon somewhere else.

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

"Solved".  I checked again and first noticed that the page that dispayed the source had the favicon. Second the favicon of the site changed from the square black square to a white rectangle (I believe some default), On another refresh it changed into the correct favicon. My guess is a cache issue....

After the 'important stuff' is done I am looking into the homepage. Had to change some database records on moving the subdomain, but the clean version is OK now. However it expects the facvicon  in the theme page.

<link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/wp-content/themes/CE4_WORDPRESS_TM_V1_06/lib/images/favicon.ico" />

It seems the location is not exported. No big deal because i'll just put it there....

thxs again

Re: favicon and apple touch icon

For your WordPress based pages, you can also upload your favicon by going to the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options > Custom Graphics tab.
You'll see areas for uploading your favicon, apple-touch icon, and more.
