I just bought CE4 Web publishing bundle and starting to read the documentation.
I have already a web site running since several years, with another LR web publishing plug in, and I want to build a new web site with CE4.
I have two basic questions:
. is it possible to build and experiment my complete new CE4 web site locally, ie on my hard disk ?
. my current web site already has some files at the top level : contact.php , password.php, password_check.php, pngfix.css.
will there be a conflict with the CE4 Pages files , and if yes, does it mean I need to delete completely my old web site before installing online CE4 BE and Pages ?
Maybe there is another strategy ?
Thanks for your help,
Bernard

Hi Bernard,

Yes. You'll need to set up a virtual server. If you're on Windows you can use WAMP or XAMPP. If on a Mac, use MAMP.
I've got a tutorial on setting up for Pages and Publisher on WAMP here. It should pretty much apply to the others too.

Definitely a conflict with contact.php. I don't know about the others but I can tell you that Pages does not generate files by those names.
You could delete the contact.php prior to uploading the Pages assets. Then see what happens. If the others are getting in the way, then delete them as well.
The old site probably has an index.html or index.php in the root. Whichever you have should also be deleted.

Hi Rod,
OK I am following the advices on your site and I am making some progress.
I have created a subdomain for testing my new site, and I am trying to enable phplugins.
I have renamed /phplugins-sample/ into /phplugins/ and moved it to the root.
Now I 'ping'
www.bleverd-photo.net/phplugins/path.php
and I get
/home/bleverdp/www/phplugins
which does not look like what I need to enter, because I get the following when I try to access the test site :
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: str_ireplace() in /home/bleverdp/www/phplugins/phplugins.php on line 13

that's the correct server path for the location where you placed your phplugins folder.
Where is your test site?
what version of php is your host using?
