Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

I use Lightroom CC. When I open the web module and the CE4 Gallery lay-out it takes forever to load and the preview keeps reloading. During the loading and reloading LR does not repsond to anything.
I have only 9 pictures in the gallery.
I have a lot of other lay-outs that do not cause this problem.
I also have TTG 2014 HTML gallery and it works fine.
Only CE4 Gallery causes this problem.
Also updating changes takes forever.

Please help?

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

I'm not seeing this. For me (on a Win 7 pro machine with 16 GB of RAM), all the TTG plug-ins take a little bit of time to load (actually seems a bit faster with LR cc than with LR 5.7) but I'm not seeing the preview reloading or updates taking forever.

What's your computer system specs?

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

If you have issues with the gallery constantly reloading, try selecting CE4 Gallery from the Layout Style list, then quit and restart Lightroom so that the Web module loads immediately with CE4 Gallery active. The plugin should then only reload when you manually tell it to do so.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

Thank you Rod Barbee for responding. I have never had any problems with other gallery's or templates.
This is a list of my computer specs:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Manufacturer Intel
Speed 3.5 GHz
Number of Cores 8

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650
Manufacturer NVIDIA
Chipset GeForce GTX 650
Dedicated Memory 1.0 GB
Total Memory 3.9 GB

Memory 16 GB

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Service Pack 1
Size 64 Bit
Edition Ultimate

And Matthew, I tried your solution, but unfortunately I did not work :-( The plugin keeps reloading itself.
And as a matter of fact when I *do* tell it to reload (by pressing CTRL + R) it waits a long time (approx. 10-15 seconds) before it actually does reload.

I think this plug-in hates me :-(

And you're using CE4 Gallery 6.1.5? Maybe try removing it, restarting Lightroom, then re-installing it and restarting Lightroom. The behavior you describe is weird.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

20 seconds isn't too bad, actually, depending on the number of images in the gallery.
There's a lot going on behind the scenes; Matt has packed in a lot of features and options (and Adobe hasn't really given a lot of love to the Web module, performance-wise)
LR 6/CC seems like it might be a little faster, but not by a whole lot.

I'm running a six core Win 7 machine with 16 Gbytes if RAM and the Web module can be frustratingly slow at times. LR even will occasionally lock up.

But try designing with only a few images in the filmstrip, that seems to help speed things up for me.

Also faster when your image sizes are smaller than your Standard preview renditions, as defined in LR preferences.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

Hello Matthew, I did eeverything you asked and finally I was so disappointed I removed the complete plugin. Today I received the update and installed version DE-Gallery-617.
The problem continues to exist. My gallery only contains 7 images, but it takes about 2-3 minutes to load. Refreshing after every change I make takes about 2-3 minutes. That is not workable. Inititally when I click the plugin in Lightroom, Lightroom freezes completely and after clicking again the slow proces of loading starts.
Can you please help, because I have paid good money for this plugin and right now it is useless and I am forced to use the 2014 TTG-html-gallery plugin, which works fine BTW.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

have you tried updating your video drivers? This can sometimes solve all sorts of seemingly unrelated issues.

Your experience with the plug-ins is not typical.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

Definitely not typical. Try as Rod suggests.

Also, if using LR6/CC, go into your preferences and try switching off GPU Acceleration. This isn't supposed to impact the Web module, but in my experience makes Lightroom buggy and slow as hell if you're not running supported hardware and drivers.

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

Ok, did both (updated my video drivers and switched off GPU acceleration), but still no luck.
I have no problems with other plugins, it is really only CE-gallery :-(
When the problem started I had Lightroom 5 and now I have Lightroom CC and still the same problem :-(

Re: Lightroom web module s l o w with CE4 Gallery

Another thing to try, make sure that your image previews, as set in Lightroom's preferences, are larger than the photo export size for images in your gallery. This prevents the Web module having to crunch your raw files on every gallery build.
