When I create an Album, I want to also use a custom thumbnail. I select Custom in the "Create Album" dialog, there appears to be no way to select the thumbnail to be used for the album.
For the albums that I upload manually, I have set the album thumbnail to a default value of "thumbnail.jpg". I then put a thumbnail, named "thumbnail.jpg" in the album folder just before uploading to my host. This works perfectly.
The publisher template I have exported and uploaded to the host also has "thumbnail.jpg" as the name of the album thumbnail. I have placed a "thumbnail.jpg" in the album folder which was uploaded by publisher. However, it does not show the "thumbnail.jpg" that I put into the folder.
Am I missing something? There is no discussion of how to use the "Custom" selection in the "Create Album" dialog.
Please advise.
Cheers,
John

Hi John, the easiest way to get custom thumbnails to work is via a directory named custom-thumbnails under your galleries directory. So if, for example, your top-level galleries directory was at http://yoursite.com/galleries/, drop any images you may want to use inside http://yoursite.com/galleries/custom-thumbnails/. (You may need to create that directory if it does not exist).
Any images dropped there will appear in the Cover Image dropdown when adding or editing an album in Publisher.

Ok, thanks that works perfectly.

yet another option:
when you create an album, a folder named custom_thumbnails is created within the album folder.
If you select "custom" for the "Cover Image", this instructs the autoindex to look in the custom_thumbnails folder for the album thumbnails.
So that's another place you could upload custom thumbnails for that album. This is handy if you want to create custom sized thumbnails but also wanted the thumbnails to appear at random like they do when using the regular thumbnails.
