Migrating from CE3 to CE4

Hi, I've finally got some time to update my site and I'm excited to move from CE3 to CE4 - however I've got a lot of publish and cart services running from lightroom and I'm nervous that a) I need to do a complete new install onto my server with the TTG-BE components and b) I'll need to republish everything; i.e., do I need to install / setup a second instance of the publisher plugin in lightroom and then send it all over again?

Am I being nervous for nothing, and what's the best practice to do this? I had a look at the excellent video for CE4 installation ( http://theturninggate.net/2015/03/ce4-i … -to-video/ ) but this is for a fresh install rather than a migration.

Additionally I would like to carry over the majority of my page styles over to the new site (or at least have a good starting point for tweaking), in the past I've used the method detailed here http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _templates ; - can I do this from CE3 to CE4 templates? Are there any risks of dong this?

There is a built in migration tool in Publisher: http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _migration

This will place your albums and album sets under CE4 Publisher control. You can then upload new CE4 templates and apply the new templates to the old albums.

There is also a Cart migration tool. I don't see any specific documentation for migrating cart settings, but from what I remember about doing it, it was pretty easy. There's a link on the TTG-BE Cart Admin page that will start the migration:

No. You'll need to start from scratch. Design in one plug-in and then share that template with the others.

Thanks! However I'm not quite clear on what this means:

1. The online /publisher/ component for CE3, and /ttg-be/ must be on the same level. e.g.:

http://yoursite.com/publisher/ http://yoursite.com/ttg-be/

I understand that ttg-be and publisher have been updated for CE4; so do I need to overwrite my old TTG-be and publisher folders on my server? Or just some components?

ttg-be was not part of CE3 so there's no ce3 version to overwrite

what it means is that ttg-be/ (with CE4 publisher inside of it) must be on the same server level as your CE3 version of Publisher

yoursite.com/publisher  (ce3 version of publisher)
yoursite.com/ttg-be/
yoursite.com/ttg-be/publisher  (ce4 version of publisher)

OK, that makes sense (and serves me right for jumping to conclusions!) thanks for the clarification on where the CE4 publisher folder needs to be in relation to the original one - that's very clear.
