Identity
Sorry if I am being slow, but can anybody shed some light on why the subheading is not visible in the identity when using text (instead of a graphic ID plate). I have searched the forum and can find nothing on it and changed every possible border and padding but to no avail. I feel as though I am missing something glaringly obvious.

can you tell us a little more?
what are the settings you're using for Identity?
Do you have text in the Subheading field?
What's the color of the Subheading? If it's the same as the Masthead background color, that would be a reason it's not visible
can you provide a link to a page where things aren't working as you expect?

Yes, there is a title. Is there anyway that I can attach a screen shot of the Identity panel settings - probably easier than explaining?
There is an example of the ID plate in which the subtitle will not appear at: http://summitphotographs.com/galleries/ … itle_test/
The rest of the site has a graphic ID plate. I was just trying out the text version because the graphic ID plate will not scale to my satisfaction on a smart phone display and looks less crisp and sharp compared to the rest of the text on the site when seen on a retina display.
I feel that I am missing something obvious but I cannot work out what it is.

you're using the Integrated Masthead option. It has limited height and, if not using a graphic, only allows for the text title (the Heading). Matt discusses that option here: http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … integrated

Rod, thank you very much.
An important lesson in that when Use Graphic Identity Plate is not selected you cannot change the ID plate role and have to turn Use Graphic Identity Plate on, change the role and then turn it back off again. I had not realised that, presuming that because the menu items were not alterable they were not relevant.

I was going to mention that but thought you might have encountered it already since you had chosen the Integrated option and then disabled the graphic identity plate.
