Inserting "pop-up" info window in cart for photo / description
Is there a way to use phplugins to insert an icon into the order page in cart that will pop-up a descriptive box or window to offer a sample photo and description of a product? For instance, if selling varieties of coffee mugs, to pop up a photo sample of what they're buying?

I'm assumming that your gallery will contain just the images that you want to productize and not the products themselves.
From my limited knowledge of php and JavaScript it sounds like you'd need images and descriptions for each product type (mugs, etc.) and a database to access them. You'd then need to call and display the images and descriptions from the database in a pop-up box.
You' need to use the CE4-CART G_STYLE identifier to add to or replace part of the cart page.
Either way, it's probably possible but will probably take significant coding skills and time (you'd likely need to hire it out if you don't have the skills)
An easier solution might be to create a page containing a few sample product images and provide a link to that page in each gallery.
You could also use the gallery sidebar to place small sample images that are linked to larger images or a descriptive product page.
If you're using Publisher you can put this sidebar in the gallery template and include it in the albums as needed.
