I'm trying to build a dark overlay with white type in my iconic auto indexes... I've been trying all the different typography settings trying to achieve white type and adjust the size of the type in the album information but nothing seems to change it.
Am I looking in the wrong place? Is this a job for custom css only?
Thanks,
Reggie.

to change the type color, look in Appearance > the Auto Index. It's right at the top of this section. Use Color and Color :hover to change the color of the type.
font and font-size will be a job for custom css.

background-color and background-color :hover are just above the text color controls

I do want to add that although I really do like most of CE4 there are some built in CSS things that just ... well.. disappoint.
By default the type is padded really "wrong" on the iconic style with title and desiccation... there is no bottom pad at all....
Is there a place to even change that without custom CSS?

there's a check mark for padding just below the Album Info Background-color control. It's just a check box though, you can't specify the amount.
there is some bottom padding. It looks to me to be about the same as the padding-left
Keep in mind that Matt could include every css setting under the sun, but that would make for more and more choices, more and more scrolling in the control panes, and slower and slower plugins.
That's why phplugins is already set up to activate custom css for those things that folks might want that aren't already included.

I don't think he intended the default to have zero padding on the bottom when padding is checked though...

I think it should be possible without css edits to have the look of this auto index, don't you think? I think I'm overlooking a setting or two.

that was done with just the controls in the plug-in, no custom css was used.
Try increasing the Album Info height
