Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

When I try to publish from lightroom I get LR error:

"Can't update this collection......   Unable to find directory gallerie. Please create this directory and set permissions to 777"

I've put "galleries" in folder at domain/ttg-be/publisher/galleries and given 777 permission

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

that's not where the galleries/ folder belongs.
It should be at the same server level as ttg-be/
So if you've placed ttg-be/ in the root of your site, place your galleries/ folder there as well

Ok. That worked. Now when hitting Publish LR warning says: Can't Updated Collection.... Message: Slug not provided... please delete album and create new album"

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Also, exported my LR CRG4 template to my desktop so I can use it in Publisher. Where does this "aa_google_tg4.lrtemplate" go?

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

I'm assuming that you're trying to publish from the album named Default Album?  Publisher can't use that.  As suggested, please delete the album and create one of your own.

Publisher doesn't use .lrtemplates.  A Publisher 'template' is an exported CRG Gallery.  To set this up:

1. Setup the appearance and functions within the CRG web module of Lightroom
2. Click 'Export...' and save the files somewhere on disk.  For example as 'my-template'.
3. Using your favourite FTP program, upload the entire exported directory, e.g. 'my-template', to ttg-be/templates/gallery/

You should then have files at somewhere like ttg-be/templates/gallery/my-template/.  When creating a Published album, the available templates should include 'my-template'.

The above steps only need to be done once, for each type of appearance you're looking for.  You can then create as many Published galleries as you like that will use that same template.

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

It worked! THANK YOU!!!!

Workflow question: I do about 20 headshots a week. I post an individual gallery for each one. My current folder structure is clients>headshots each headshot goes in there with the slug being first part of their email (long story) i.e. jdoe

How would you organize this in LR? Should I create an "Album Set" an put each person in there?

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Hi, looking at test-josh, I see that CRG is not enabled for the gallery.  Can you double-click the album within publish services, and then click on the Integration tab.  There should be an option to Enable feedback.  Select this and click Edit.

You can setup your album sets in whatever way makes sense for you and your customers.  For example, below is one strategy:

headshots/
headshots/person-one/
headshots/person-one/album-one
headshots/person-one/album-two
headshots/person-two/
headshots/person-two/album-one
headshots/person-two/album-two
portraits/
...
etc.

In case you weren't aware, albums and album sets can be dragged from one album set to another within Publish services.  The location on your server and links will automatically be adjusted.  So there's no need to re-create albums in order to change the structure.  Just be aware that customers may click on broken links if you change the structure after giving them URLs to specific galleries.

One other item of note.  I see that you named your template 'my-template'.  While this works, it is only an example name that I made up.  For your own organisation, you may want to name your templates something meaningful that reflect what the template is intended for, e.g. 'headshots', or 'weddings' (assuming that templates for headshots and weddings would have a different look and feel that warrant their own templates)

So I enable feedback for this album.

When I click on link below I get sent to a login page but gallery Features > Enable Password is unchecked

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

I'm not getting the log in screen.

Realize that there are two options for logging into a gallery.

One is the Password protection you can set up for a stand alone exported gallery. This is done in Lightroom in the Output Settings control pane.

If using Publisher, you can then enable Password protection on an album by album basis when you create or edit an album. This is done from the Features Tab.

The other time you'll encounter a log in is if using CRG in the Managed by CRG Admin mode, which is set in Publisher in the Create/Edit Album dialog box under the Integration tab.

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Just figured it out:

Integration needed to be Standalone

Is there a way to save Edit Album settings? I will be creating 20 of these per week.

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Yes please. Sticky menu or savable presets in  Publisher's Edit Album would be great.

Also when hitting Submit in feedback there seems to be a long delay. Maybe just my server but if not it would be good to have this be faster. Clients seem to think it didn't work.

Other than that everything is working great.

Thanks to you both!

Josh

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Unfortunately, Lightroom's Publisher module doesn't support presets.  We're looking to add a checkbox so that the previously-entered album details will be used as defaults.

Not able to get Publisher to show image numbers below thumbnails or in slide show. Image numbers are shown when gallery is launched from LR Web.

Have you set up the metadata for Publisher in Output settings?

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

Ok this looks like the issue.

Is there no Rating option? I don't see it in Publisher Setup dropdown.

Other questions. I'd like to nest my galleries in jzphoto.com/clients/google_headshots
If I put in Top-level gallery directory "clients" it publishes okay but if I put clients/google_headshots it doesn't work

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

use album sets to nest galleries. Make an album set called google_headshots and put your albums in that

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

you can set up the color of the ratings stars in Lightroom: Appearance > Client Response Setup

then enable in the Feedback profiles in the CRG admin of ttg-be

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

I just typed {Rating} in the meta field and it worked. Will this screw it up ?

For nesting I mean I want the gallery to reside on the server inside clients > google_headshots

I think your suggestion doesn't do this.

Re: Setting Up Publisher for CRG4

why not? google_headshots can be an album set (autoindex page) or just a folder (the No Index option when creating an Album Set)
It depends on what you want it to look like or how you want things to function.

I just typed {Rating} in the meta field and it worked

If you mean to display your own rating for the client, this will work.

If you also want the client to rate an image, the enable the CRG ratings.
