Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

I just updated CE4 Theme for WP from 3.04 to 3.10.

After activating the Theme in WP and setting up my sidebar again, I found that the Multilevel Navigation does not work as it used to do.

Strange enough on the CE4 Pages based pages it is inherited correctly by phplugins.
Only in WP itself the lower levels don't appear when I hover my mouse over the top level entry that has sublevels.

I found some errors in the Firebug console but couldn't nail the problem down.

Is ther someone with an idea?

Cheers, Michael

Re: Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

have you double checked to make sure that phplugins are enabled in Theme for WordPress and that the correct server path has been entered?

You may need to go into the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Menus page and reset your menu.

Re: Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

Hi Rod, hi Matthew,

thank You for Your quick response.

I did both of that. I made changes to the menu and saved, changed back and saved over.

The WP-Menu appears correctly in galleries, autoindex pages and even the newly installed CRG. So PHPlugins can be assumed to work.

It is strange only on WP pages. When viewed on the PC, the menu just lacks the lower levels. On handhelds the collapsed menu button won't expand anything, just move the page to top.

I looked into the browser console and it says:

TypeError: $ is not a function
http://fotos.michilge.de/blog/wp-content/themes/CE4WP310/lib/js/init.tail.min.js
Line 1

TypeError: $ is not a function

Line 11

TypeError: $ is not a function
http://fotos.michilge.de/blog/wp-content/themes/CE4WP310/lib/js/init.defer.min.js
Line 2

I'm not experienced in Javascript. Is there further information I can provide?

Best wishes,
Michael

Do you have a caching plugin installed? If so, you may need to disable it, or refresh its cache.

Re: Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

There is no caching plugin installed.

When I'll be on the outside of this firewall again, I will edit the four positions listed in my console and replace "$" by "jQuery" and see if that might do any better.

I told someone here at work who didn't have time to examine but mumbled about a "no-conflict" mode before he left.

Of course I will report afterwards.

Re: Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

have you tried troubleshooting by disabling all WordPress plug-ins and seeing if the drop-down menu then works?
Then re-enable your plug-ins one by one until the menu breaks again.

Re: Solved: Multilevel Navigation broken in WP

Hi Rod,

Thank You for Your advice.
I should have done that earlier.

I just remembered that Matthew wrote something about that "no-conflict" keyword last spring when I had trouble with photoswipe in combination with that old GPX-Viewer.

I deactivated the no-conflict mode in that plugin already last year, but an update of the plugin introduced the same trouble again. I wasn't aware I updated that ...
Stupid me.

Sorry for bothering with the same cause again.

And Thank You again.
Michael
