Search not finding anything on mobile devices

Hi,

I have attempted to find pictures via search on my iPad and the results show nothing.
any ideas?

For example 'cow' or 'Dare' entered in my search at http://kristenwestlake.net/search/mobile.php
Should bring up this http://www.kristenwestlake.net/gallerie … single.php

But it only brings up an empty result page. It's as if the search doesn't happen at all, as there is nothing that says no results.

did you also update the template you're using for search (if it's not the same as your gallery template)?

otherwise it sounds like something Ben or Matt will have to look at. Perhaps something missing from the template_mobile.php file?

Hi Kristen, this is a bug in the way that search handles redirects to mobile.php. See this post here for a workaround until we find a better solution:

Hi Ben,

I changed my template_index.php in my Gallery template, which is the one that I use for my Search. However, I am still not having any success with the search on my Iphone or Ipad.

My line however did not read window.location.replace('mobile.php'); }. It read window.location.replace('<?php echo $mobile_url; ?>'); }. I changed that to window.location.replace('mobile.php<?php echo $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] ? '?'.$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] : ''; ?>'); }

But I still get no search results. I can see the q search term in the address bar but it redirects to mobile.php

Any ideas?

Hi Kristen, is that a CE3 template? If so then the $mobile_php variable should already include the query string without you needing to edit the file. I don't know how well CE3 templates would work with the CE4 Publisher.

Can you email me the template files so I can take a look?

HI Ben,

Oh man oh man do I feel SILLY .. that WAS the old CE3 and in my OLD publisher folder .. rather than going into my ttg-be folder I inadvertently went into the Gallery file inside my old publisher .. guess its time to delete that one!

Have implemented the patch and the search facility works on both iPad (3) and iPhone (5c). A selection of search results is shown together with the appropriate thumbnails.

If the thumbnail is clicked to show a fullsize picture there is a total failure - back to deep levels of the isp server and the "domain not registered" error message.

I note that this is quite an old fix - has anything else been done for the mobile device search facility? (I vaguely recollect something simply saying that Search was not available in CE4 yet).

the latest version of CE4 Publisher (2.2.0b) along with the latest version of CE4 Gallery (6.1.4) is all you need.
Search has worked in CE4 since the start (though with some bugs)
