CE4 Publisher Installation problems

Hi, Just purchased the CE4 Web Publishing Bundle and I'm at a loss on how to install! Didn't realise how convoluted the process was. Not sure which order to do things either from the documents. I have an existing website and want to keep that in tacked and install the TTG site in a separate folder if possible. I got as far as uploading the folder ttg-be to a new folder I called 'new-website2015' and followed the instruction to login (http://yoursite.com/ttg-be/admin/) but this is the message I got:

mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied|#0 [internal function]: ErrorHandler::handleError(2, 'mkdir() [

Being stuck at the first hurdle is a little off-putting but hopefully someone can help :-)

Cheers,
Dayve

Re: CE4 Publisher Installation problems

that's the one. That will give Ben a starting point.

Do you know if your hosting provider conforms to TTG's requirements? Who are you hosting with?

you also may need to set permissions on the new folder to 755 or 777

System & Hosting Requirements

System
Mac or Windows PC, running Lightroom 3 or newer.

Hosting
Linux OS
Apache server
PHP 5.2.6 or newer, with SQLite and PDO modules enabled

I'm hosting with Elite (http://www.elite.net.uk). Not sure if they conform (forgot to ask!). How do I set permissions?

Thanks :-)

Re: CE4 Publisher Installation problems

Hi Rod,

Thanks for that. I can now get into the admin panel. Is it possible to have a temporary website within a folder in my current (non-TTG) website?
Many thanks,
Dayve

Re: CE4 Publisher Installation problems

Sure. There's a couple of ways to do it.

One way is to simply create a sub-folder on your server. In Pages, you'll need to be sure to put the full path to the site in the Site URL field in Page Setup in Site Info. So the url might be http://yoursite.com/test-site/
But this also means all your navigation will also have this. And when you go to make your site live you'll need to change the Site URL and perhaps some other things.

The best way is just slightly more complicated but is actually easier on you in the long run. And that is to create a sub-domain on your server. That way you can set the Site URL at / and just leave it there for when you're ready to make your new site live. It also simplifies setting up ttg-be, and any customizations you may want to do involving phplugins (for using drop-down menus if you want those), custom css, etc.
Sub-domains are treated just like a regular domain. And this way you won't have to deal with navigation and source paths involving a sub-folder.

I keep an active test site in a sub-domain on my server. It's great for trying out new things without messing with, or risking, your main site.

Re: CE4 Publisher Installation problems

Thanks for that Rod,

Having a failure when I test the authentication check button in the publisher settings at the moment. I'm sure I have the right API (http://photographybyward.co.uk/ttg-be/publisher/), but it keeps failing :-(

I'll have a look at your suggestion above tomorrow too.

Cheers,
Dayve

Re: CE4 Publisher Installation problems

Hi Dayve,

I tried authenticating from my end using the default API of ttg9999. The authentication was successful but it was unable to find a directory named 'galleries', which may not mean anything because you may not be using a folder named 'galleries' as your top level galleries folder.

so double check the API key you're using.
