TG as a photo contest platform

I'm an active member of a local camera club and I remember looking at TG several years ago and thought it had great potential to become an online Photo contest platform. Here is the criteria that I will need to do:

1. Generate three different categorizes or galleries to the web
2. Allow a judge to score the image (1-100) and assign it a place (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honorable Mention)
3. Allow the judge to make a comment for each image.
4. The admin should be able to import all this info so it can be assembled later for a slideshow.

I am mainly using TG to eliminate the need for sending the images to different judges and having each judge use there own way of handling all this info. This would also automate a lot of the process that we are now doing manually.

Many thanks,
Houston

Re: TG as a photo contest platform

Sounds like you need the Client Response Gallery

The judge could view each gallery, assign star ratings, choose options (1st, 2nd, 3rd...whatever you've set up) and add comments for 1-100 assignment and other comments.

A form would then be submitted to the contest admin. This form would contain image file names and their associated ratings, options and comments.
Copy the submitted file numbers into Lightroom's Library Filter and you've got the images for your slide show.

none of what the judge enters into the comment panes of the gallery would be viewable by the public.

Re: TG as a photo contest platform

Rob,

Thank you for your very quick reply. Sounds good so far. I will install and see how this works in practice. Are there any demos of this to look at?

Many thanks,

Re: TG as a photo contest platform

No official TTG demos as far as I know. Here's one I have on my test site (modified a bit to give you an idea for the feedback panes)
http://ce4.barbeephoto.com/galleries/crg-test/
This is the CE3 version of CRG, the one currently available.
documentation is here: http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … se_gallery

The CE4 version is now in beta testing (it's pretty cool) but may be more than you need for this purpose.

The CE3 version relies on the included Form-to-Email script to submit the form.

The CE4 version integrates with all the new CE4 goodness but relies on the ttg-be back end for form/mail submission, (which requires some set up) but it too can be used as a stand-alone gallery. The email that the CE4 version sends is really well formatted.

I'm sure there will be a demo of the CE4 version before too long.
