I have suddenly started to get an erratic background, sometimes only showing half of the black background and some times just a band across the screen during the slideshow presentation in my galleries/portfolios. This only appears to happen in Google Chrome and does not do the same in IE or Firefox. I have uploaded fresh template and does not seem to fix. It's most evident if you scroll down to one of the bottom images and click to start slide show. See link..

Any clues to what might be happening?
Thanks in advance,
David

I see it happening too. Have you tried using the CE4 Standard layout rather than the Freewall (Masonry), just to see what happens?

Rod,
Thanks for the response. I have not tried going back to CE4 Standard. Have been using the Freewall Masonoy for some time. The issue just popped up this last weekend. I'll give it a try this evening when I get back and let you know. Although I'm thinking it's a Chrome issue. (again...)

Beautiful images, David.
I'm not seeing the background issue in Chrome. What version of the browser are you running?
Offline
I was seeing it earlier in Chrome, but now I'm not.

Matt and Rod,
Did not expect for you guys to respond over the holidays. Thank you both again for your time. My Chrome version is 39.0.2171.95m which is the most current unless they are telling me something different.
So I uploaded two galleries/portfolios of the same. Links are:
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome/
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome-II/
Monochrome is with the Freewall Masonry
Monochrome II with the CE4 Standard. It does not have the same problem, although there is some faint "ghosting" in the slideshow. That may be my settings.
Please don't spend your Christmas and New Years stressing over this. Let me know if there is a solution or what I may be doing wrong when you have settled down after the holidays.
Merry Christmas...
David

Oh yeah. It's there on the Freewall album.
Just as another point of data, does this happen with a gallery that's exported and uploaded (as opposed to a Publisher album)?
the ghosting you see behind the CE4 Standard version could come from the opacity setting of the UI Background-color in the Large Image Presentation settings.
In fact, check that setting for the Masonry template as well.

That's new and weird. I'll have to try exporting here and see if I can't reproduce it. There's nothing leaping out to me in the code or error logs that should be causing it. It's behaving as if its position were not fixed, and yet ... it's position is fixed!

Matt and/or Rob,
I went back to an original CE4 Gallery Template and uploaded another gallery to my site not using publisher. I am experiencing the same erratic background position in Chrome. Does not appear in IE or Firefox. See the following Galleries/Portfolios:
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome/
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome-II/
And this which was uploaded direct to my galleries not using publisher:
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/M … lery-Test/
and yes it's weird...
Any thoughts to what I may be doing wrong?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Seems to be a Chrome issue to me. I'm experiencing a similar thing in a test gallery. At first I had only about 8 images in the gallery and things looked fine. I increased it to 23 and then saw the same problem you're seeing.

I think it's likely to happen any time the page is taller than the screen.
I'm wondering whether this is just a bug in Chrome, rather than a bug that exists in the gallery, and then I have to wonder whether it's a bug that can be worked around. Irritating when browsers break stuff that used to, and should work.

I, too, am now getting a white background outside my CE4 gallery instead of the dark teal that is shown in the gallery itself. It is some setting I have changed, as it does this in both Chrome and Firefox, but for the life of me, I cannot find the setting. You can see the effect at http://www.bcphotoadventures.com/Savannah/index.php and for one of our student galleries at http://www.bcphotoadventures.com/NewEng … /index.php (that is also supposed to have the dark teal as the background outside the lighter teal gallery background.
HELP!
Thanks, I hope,

Hmmm. I'm not seeing it in either Firefox or Chrome. Or any other browser I checked.

Happy New Year! I am still hoping to find a solution to what appears a Chrome issue in CE4 Gallery Highslide/TTG Masonry both rigid and elastic. I have gone through the pain of deleting all my galleries/portfolios and tried to start from scratch. I did download and install a fresh version of CE4 Gallery 613a hoping that it may solve the problem. Limiting the Gallery Page to less than 12-14 images seems to be OK. More than that and I still get a "white band" below. In addition if I click on an image in the lower portion of the gallery and exit out I am now getting a black "bar" in the middle of the gallery. Gallery CE4 Standard works. See the links:
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome/
http://davidollilaphoto.com/galleries/Monochrome-II/
Any help or suggestions of what is going on?
Thanks,
David

Presently, I have nothing. I've been picking at it, but there's ostensibly nothing at all wrong with the gallery. For all that I can tell, this is happening because of a bug in Chrome that I can do nothing about. Things work as intended in every other browser I've tried, and used to work in previous versions of Chrome. Sadly, the bug also carries forward into Chrome 40 Beta and Google's bleeding-edge Chrome Canary builds, but no telling when or if it will get fixed ...

Thanks Matt for looking into it. I guess I'll go back to the "Standard" Gallery as much as I like the look of the "Masonry". I guess I'll wait for Google to fix their "Chrome"...again.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory bank, there was something about deleting one phplugin and replacing it with another. I could not find anything on this. Is this a possibility, and if so, directions??? And again, it is in at least three browsers, not just Chrome ... Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.
In my case Windows 7 at http://www.bcphotoadventures.com/Savannah/index.php and all other such galleries.
Take care,

I've only see the issue in Chrome, and in the Freewall (Masonry) layout. I don't see it in the gallery you linked to. It looks fine to me in both Chrome and Firefox. But it is a CE4 standard gallery, not a Masonry layout.

Rod, Were you replying to me? And what about the PHP plugin issue, or was that for CE3 Gallery? Curious that I would get the white background in all above-mentioned browsers. Any thoughts? When I say "white background" I mean the whole page background outside the gallery, not the gallery itself which shows the dark teal as wished.
Thanks,

TBC, either I'm misunderstanding you, or you're taking the thread off-topic. If the latter, please start a separate thread.

David, Rod,
Possibly good news:
I've been tinkering more today, and still have nothing to show for it. I did, however, find a bug report that may or may not be related. So Google should hopefully be looking into rendering issues relating to position:fixed elements.
Or may already have done so. Happily, testing a gallery in Chome Canary (Version 41.0.2268.0 canary (64-bit)), the problem seems to have been resolved.
David, I tried to test your gallery again today, but I see you've switched to the Magnific presentation ...

Matt, Yes I switched to the Magniific presentation and it seems to work just fine. So it appears its just an issue with the Gallery presentation. I don't know why I didn't try that before. I may even like it better. Mirrors closelywhat is on iPad/iphone. However If you get something resolved with gallery....
Thanks again,
David

I was Rod. Changing to the Magnific presentation seems to have eliminated the issue. Will test with some more portfolio uploads tonight.
