Just wondering how the search feature is implemented and if there are any good sites using the search function?

Search is implemented through Publisher. All albums created via Publisher can be available for search. During the Album Setup you can also choose to hide the album from search.

So from what I can see, search is all done on keywords? eg. Caption.
If you say search for "waterfalls" it will search through all your albums and return any instance of the a photo with keyword "waterfall" and then display them on the results page in a new album?
Is that the process?

The search results will be displayed like a gallery/album. You'll designate a gallery template for this purpose.

Hi Chumby, photos that match on keywords will feature higher in the results. Searching on photos is done primarily on keywords, and secondarily on matches of title, caption and filename.
Let's say you had these photos:
#1 keywords=apple,orange, title=fruit
#2 keywords=apple,orange, title=apple
#3 keywords=apple, title=fruit
#4 keywords=apple, title=apple
#5 title=orange
When searching for the terms apple and orange, the results would be:
#2 (keywords match both search terms, title matches search term)
#1 (keywords match both search terms)
#4 (keywords match one search term, title matches one search term)
#3 (keywords match one search term)
#5 (title matches on search term)
Using keywords in the title or filename will elevate photos in the results over other photos that have the same level of keyword matching.

I've expanded slightly on the documentation, including further sorting priority and mandatory or omitted strings of words.
There's a fair bit more to the search ordering, that increases the quality of ordering while getting a little technical. I'll mention some aspects here:
Ranking is based on a score per matched photo. The scores are useful for ranking rather than as absolute values.
Searching works on partial matches.
1. Keyword scoring is based on the proportion of a found keyword matching a search term. The score of a keyword match is calculated as length-of-term / length-of-found-word. For example, searching on a term 'apple' will score 1.0 with a found keyword of 'apple' and 0.555 on a keyword of 'pineapple'.
2. Title and filename matches are given higher weighting than caption matches. This is on the assumption that titles and filenames are shorter than captions, so the existence of a search term is of more value.
3. Exact matches of a complete title or caption add further weight to the score.

Hi all,
Sorry to bring up an old thread... just getting back into this now...
It possible to search across multiple galleries? Say I had 5 galleries, each with a couple of pictures of say a church in them.
Can I do a "master search" and return all the church images across multiple galleries?

Is it possible then to have two levels of search - one search box say on a home page that searches everything, and then another search that just searches an album that you may be in?
How would this be implemented?
