wondering if there is a quicker way to publish a gallery of images where the images are published on the local computer and then use an ftp program to upload the folder to the remote server. Lightroom is taking a long time to publish.
thanks for the changes to CE4, coming from CE2.

that is the pre-Publisher way of doing it. Export a gallery, then upload via FTP
Publishing time could be due to several factors. Are you also having hi-res renditions for download created?

good to know, yes high res files are being created. by doing it the export a gallery way, does the "search" feature get lost on searching that gallery? when just updating it appears to be taken care of quickly. any other issues of handling the pre-publisher way?

Search requires Publisher.
Breadcrumbs are also Publisher dependent.
Publisher just makes everything easier. It would probably actually take longer to upload galleries via FTP because you'll always have to upload the entire gallery and all the supporting files. With Publisher, those files are already there.

thanks for the explanation, makes sense now and good to know going forward.
Publisher worked great to "publish" first client gallery with cart enabled and password protected. It was a large gallery of 495 images with a 900 px wide display and sharpen to screen occurring. Patience on my end.
In the past, I've been using Photo Mechanic to generate html web galleries and upload via Transmit (ftp) which is super fast.

I'm still living in the past. We've got sssllllooooowwwww DSL and my upload speed is something like 750 Mb/s, so for me, a gallery of that size would require much patience
