Publisher managed home page

Can you please verify if Stage really is needed for this or could i simply publish from publisher to a "pages-gallery" gallery?
Reading the blog is seems like its needed (step 2), but reading the wiki i see no reference for using Stage...

Wiki link:

Which one is correct?

Re: Publisher managed home page

Stage is only needed if you want a full-page flip gallery or a Galleria slide show as your Publisher managed home page gallery.

If you want a regular gallery, then use CE4 Gallery to create the pages-gallery template

from the wiki:

You may assign any gallery template to be used, created by CE4 Gallery, CE4 Stage, etc.

Right. Those are the options if you're using the images in the Pages filmstrip. If you want to use a regular CE4 Highslide gallery, then create a Publisher template from it and upload to the ttg-be/templates/gallery/ folder. Then, using Publisher, create an album from that template and make sure it has the slug "pages-gallery". Under the Features tab, make sure you hide the album from the Autoindex.

In Pages, check the Allow Replacement checkbox
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _ce4_pages

what steps are you taking?

Re: Publisher managed home page

1. Have created Highslide Publisher template and uploaded to ttg-be/templates/gallery/ folder
2. In pages I have selected that Publisher can replace my images
3. selected some images
4. Publish using the template created in step 1 and get this error:
An internal error has occurred: JSON.lua:458: JSON.lua:197: can't parse JSON at char 1 of: file_put_contents(./../../galleries/pages-gallery/gallery.xml): failed to open stream: No such file or directory|#0 [internal function]: ErrorHandler::handleError(2, 'file_put_conten...', '/hsphere/local/...', 143, Array)

and quite some more...

Re: Publisher managed home page

can you post a link to the template you created?
It should be in yoursite.com/ttg-be/templates/gallery/pages-gallery

Re: Publisher managed home page

first, take out the spaces in the name of the template. Use only letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores in file and folder names. Spaces can mess things up.

secondly, your template is using the Shared Resources feature, however, those resources are not where the page expects them to be. It's looking here for all the shared resources: http://www.bluehourphotography.net/lib/ etc when it should be looking in
http://ce4.bluehourphotgraphy....
So be sure to change the Site Root field in Site Info to reflect this. Since you're using a subdomain, a simple / should do it.

When you create the album to be used by Pages for the home page gallery, give it the slug "pages-gallery" and the resulting album should then be found here: http://ce4.bluehourphotography.net/gall … es-gallery

(I messed that up above when asking for your template)

Re: Publisher managed home page

Rod, I'm lost here.
New template without spaces and with / as site root is here and working nicely:
http://ce4.bluehourphotography.net/ttg- … e_Gallery/

Have created new entry in LR's publisher module (w. slug = pages-gallery) for a new frontage, but as soon as I press publish i get this error:
An internal error has occurred: JSON.lua:458: JSON.lua:197: can't parse JSON at char 1 of: file_put_contents(./../../galleries/pages-gallery/gallery.xml): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

When accessing my site now I'm getting an error:
The template ttg-be/templates/gallery/ could not be found. Create this template with CE4 Gallery then upload it to your server.

Re: Publisher managed home page

ok, got it working by manually adding a pages-gallery folder like in this thread
http://community.theturninggate.net/top … publisher/

I can see that highslide takes control of my entire page where i was hoping to have it just in the grid thus keeping my layout visible.
Is this possible or will i need stage for that?

Re: Publisher managed home page

When you use this feature, the entire page is replaced by your gallery. If you have text on your home page that you want shown you'll need to add it to the pages-gallery album in the page copy area.
Make sure that The Block is enabled in the template you're using for the pages-gallery

So does this mean I have been wasting my time trying to get this to work on my site - After spending hours getting to grips with the  Web Publishing Package I finally managed to get something that resembles a website - I have what I understand now is a galleria slide show on my home page - I have it enabled for updates via Publisher - but every time I try to use publisher to update it the slide show  gets replaced with a gallery of thumbnails instead - does this mean I need to dip into my pocket again and purchase Stage just so I can do updates to the slideshow on my home page ?

It has also been difficult to undo these changes once uploaded to the server, is there an easy way to undo these changes ?

Re: Publisher managed home page

If you want a Home page controlled by Publisher, the Publisher needs a gallery template to work with. So if you want a Gallleria show, then yes, you need Stage to create the template for Publisher.

You don't need Stage to have the Galleria slide show on your home page. You only need it if you want to update it via Publisher.
Otherwise you could simply add/change images in the web collection you're using for Pages, then export and upload again.
Other changes to Pages require the same. But depending on the change, you may not need to upload everything.

Re: Publisher managed home page

So could this be a something for future upgrade to enable publisher to update the home page with updated web collections ??

I spent best par of 3 days trying to get this to work before finding out I have been trying to do something impossible, and I thought it was something I was doing wrong.... never mind it becomes clearer and makes sense now.

Lightroom's Publish service doesn't work that way.
