I am using windows 7 Lightroom 5. I made a saved Page Template under my User Templates. I also saved a Web Page gallery within my collection with the same name for the Page.
When I make changes to the Saved page template and then try to use the "update current setting" it does not save the new setting to either my saved template or the saved page gallery. I know I am doing something wrong.
I have tried it with and without using the "update preview" function. If I just create an new template and save it, everything is fine but it would be a lot easier just update current template settings.

I've not experienced the problem you're seeing.
when I update a user template, the settings are saved.
In a saved web gallery, the settings are automatically saved to the web collection
are you using Lightroom 5.5? (I wasn't seeing this problem with LR 5.0 either)
Sounds like it could be a Lightroom problem. Do you have trouble updating other user templates, like from the Slideshow or Book Modules?
You can sometimes fix Lightroom weirdness by closing Lightroom, deleting the preferences file, and restarting.

Just an idea
LightRoom's Web module is not the safer.
One lack is that the selected template (upper left column) looses the focus when working in the settings (right column),
Thus be sure to RIGHT clic the template DIRECTLY to uptade it and not to left clic to reselect before (whitch reloads the original settings).
I have had the problem several times and it happens again sometimes when i am tired.

Good point Fredy, I've been bitten by that too.

If you catch yourself clicking the template when you shouldn't, you can CMD-Z to undo the action.
The template loses focus simply because the settings on the right are no longer the same as the template.

Thanks for all the input. I finally figured it out after reading the posts and experimenting. When I am in the LR Web module using CE4 it is to say the least a bit sluggish and "jumpy". I finally figured out that I need to gently RIGHT CLICK on the saved template to update and not LEFT CLICK. It works great now. Still getting my CE4 work flow down. Thanks again for the help.
