The gallery preview function stopped working when I upgraded to Lightroom 5.3. How come?

which plug-in are you using?
Pages cannot be previewed in Lightroom because all the pages are exported as php files
Same with Autoindex.
Gallery and CRG can export as php if you choose certain features that trigger the php output. Like enabling downloads, phplugins, password protection...
So if any of those are the case, you'll need to view your pages online or in a virtual server like WAMP or MAMP (which are easy to install and use)

I am using the TTG Gallery plug-ins. And in the 5.2 version of Lightroom I could click on web preview and it would take me to my web server, no questions asked.
FYI I use Dreamweaver as my FTP program and it seems to have problems uploading your PHP files. I get a small x next to the file in my web directory, suggesting that there is something missing, plus the files won't open on my site.

Lightroom's "preview in browser" feature opens your browser locally, not on a web server, that's why it can only open html documents, not php docs.
Have you added any features to Gallery that would invoke the exporting of index.php rather than index.html?
Which specific TTG plugins are you using?
I've not used Dreamweaver so can't comment on its FTP capabilities. I use a dedicated FTP program (FileZilla) and have no problems moving files around with it.

I turned off the PHP setting in the TTG Gallery menu and that solved both problems, now I can preview the gallery in Lightroom and it shows up on my web page too.

The gallery still needs visual work but it's functional at least and it's not "Flash" based.
Apparently my server settings prefer html pages.
Thanks for your help.
