Hi,
I've been trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to upgrade my site from CE2 to CE3.
The site is: www.chbphoto.com
software: LR5.2, php 5.4.16, wordpress - 3.6.1, Mac 10.7, CE3 plugins - most recent (Pages, WordPress, AutoIndex, Galleries)
Settings:
Pages: SiteInfo: Root /
phplugins enabled
used 3rd block of text - "Site Wide Dropdown with AutoIndex Gallery List"
correct location of phplugins.php
Navigation Multilevel
Output: Get Shared Resourses enabled
The site is basically working but with the following problems:
AutoIndex & Galleries:
1- Gallery menu not showing all levels - the galleries within the AutoIndex folder are not appearing in the dropdown menu.

2- AutoIndex thumbnails not showing up - I'm getting the "Monster" picture instead of a thumbnail (some of the galleries are CE2) vintage.
3- Blog menu is not transferring to correct location in all instances except main level of site - I'm getting things like: http://chbphoto.com/blog/blog/ or http://chbphoto.com/galleries/autoIndex-PORT/blog or http://chbphoto.com/galleries/autoIndex-PORT/S90/blog
4- In the top level of the Blog, WordPress is not showing the image of the video.
This worked correctly in previous version of WordPress plugin (CE2)
It also works correctly on the full page with the video.
"Blog" menu does not take you back to the top level of the blog (See Menu issue , above).
I'd appreciate any help you can send my way - I haven't been able to resolve these issues from the wiki.
thanks,
Chuck

1- Gallery menu not showing all levels - the galleries within the AutoIndex folder are not appearing in the dropdown menu.
the autoindex script does not look down through multiple levels. To get sub-menus, see this thread:
http://community.theturninggate.net/top … hild-navs/
2- AutoIndex thumbnails not showing up - I'm getting the "Monster" picture instead of a thumbnail (some of the galleries are CE2) vintage.
You need to have thumbnails in each autoindex's thumbnails folder for them to appear in the Galleries page or for them to appear in an index above them.
For instance, you need to have thumbnails in the thumbnails/ folder of autoindex-PORT/ for any thumbnails to show up on your Galleries page.
The navigation is using a relative link in your navigation (blog/) . Change it to an absolute URL: /blog. Also be sure to update your CE3 Galleries plug-in, I believe Matt fixed an error associated with the blog link.
4. Not sure about the video not showing on the main blog page. But the navigation problem is the same as above. In the navigation section of Site Info, change blog/ to /blog

Hi Rod,
Thank you for the fast response.
1- I'll take a look at this later today - In the mean time, I'll live without the child items.
2- There are thumbnails in each of the gallery folders that are inside the autoIndex-Port folder. The thumbnails show up perfectly on each gallery but there is no thumbnail migrating up to the main gallery where the autoIndex-PORT is located. This is where the "Monster" icon shows up.
Please note: the only CE3 gallery is the S90 -- links in the other galleries (CE2) do not work at this level
3- I made your suggested change from blog/ to /blog in all the templates/plugins. I'm still getting thing like "http://chbphoto.com/blog/blog" in the wordpress and "http://chbphoto.com/galleries/autoIndex-PORT/S90/blog" in the S90 gallery and " http://chbphoto.com/galleries/autoIndex-PORT/blog" in the autoindex portfolio folder.
Do I need to make these ../blog or ../../blog? Just tried these - neither works
4- I believe the embedded video not showing up at the top level might be a problem either with the newest WordPress or with the CE3 WordPress plugin (as it did work correctly in CE2.
Thanks again,
Chuck

this is correct behavior. You need to place thumbnails in the thumbnails/ folder of the autoIndex-Port folder for the Galleries page to see it. The easiest way is to select a few representative images from the galleries contained within that autoindex, put them in the autoIndex-Port collection, and re-export and upload.
made your suggested change from blog/ to /blog in all the templates/plugins. I'm still getting thing like
exactly where did you make these changes? the url still shows blog/ in the page source

Hi Rod,
thanks again for your response.
Okay - I created a thumbnail folder at the autoindex level and populated it - this is now working.
I remember that in previous versions, this happened automatically when using an autoindex. Just puzzled as to why this function was not implemented in CE3.
I changed the blog/ to /blog in Pages -> Site Info -> Navigation Hyperlinks (03).
Then I exported a gallery to my hard drive and uploaded it to the chbphoto.com site.
I just repeated the process (for Pages only) and see a 1:50 PM timestamp on the uploaded files (such as about.php, contact.php, etc).
Previously, this is where and how I made the other updates from blog/ to /blog.
I also noticed that the default for the blog (in Lightroom) is blog/ - this is the only target that contains a "/" for any of the defaults.
I'm wondering if I have some corrupted software (and thus need to reinstall all the plugins and start from scratch).
Which file were you looking at?
Since I do see some older timestamps, I believe only the newly updated files are changed on the server.
Just thought of something else -
I have been using the same phplugins.php file as before. I didn't update it because I had changed it in 2 places:
1- I deleted the 2 lines of code so as to use the site-wide drop down with auto index
2- I had to change the "info" link name to "FIne Art Images" as this has never gotten into the file
I just noticed that this file uses "blog/" - I will update that and upload to the site ===== THAT FIXED THE BLOG PROBLEM==
I don't understand why the "blog/" and the info -> Fine Art Images updates never made it out of the Pages plugin and into the phplugins file. Any ideas?
Thanks again for your help.
Chuck

Autoindex CE3 still creates a thumbnails folder and will populate it as long as you have images in the collection you're working with. Nothing's changed in that regard

You need to do this for all galleries and indexes you have online.
Since you're going to need to export and upload everything you have online anyway, I'd suggest implementing PHPlugins and managing you navigation that way.

change that to /blog
I thought Matt had changed that. The problem with using blog/ is that the browser will look inside the current folder for a folder named blog/ and then look inside that for the index file. And of course, it's not there. Using /blog tells the browser to go to the root of the site and look for a folder named blog. It then looks inside that for an index file.
Which file were you looking at?
your autoindex page and any number of galleries. If you use /blog, for all of your plugins, then you'll be ok. No need to try to use ../../ or other relative methods, just use the absolute URL.

Re: Issue 4
You're displaying excerpts on the blog's Home page. Excerpts strip any HTML present in the article's content, including video, images, etc. This is how excerpts have always functioned, so nothing new here. You can choose to display the full article rather than excerpts from within the Theme Options.

I populated the galleries with Publisher rather than hard coding them - maybe I'm not doing that properly - I'll try playing around with that.

in that case: http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … album_sets
See the section on Selecting the Cover Image.
What I've done is create a Lightroom Library Export preset that will create thumbnails at my needed size. I then use my FTP program and simply drag them to the Album Set's Thumbnail folder. To me, that's a bit easier than using Publisher to pick out a file name. Plus you can choose several thumbnails to act as representatives of all the Albums within the Set.

Hi Matt,
Re Issue - 4 -- I tried "Full Post With Images" on the CE3 Wordpress and am still not getting the image of the video on the entry page of the blog.
I reverted back to the CE2 WordPress on the site so that you can see what I'm looking for as far as the display of the main blog page, including the video.
Is there something else I'm missing in order to facilitate this?
Thanks again,
Chuck

Unfortunately, Lightroom can't include images with Album Sets. So Ben's built in solution or the manual solution I use seem to be the only options we have.

I tried resetting the content layout to full post w/images but I'm still not getting the video in the blog front page.
In the meantime, I've reset chbphoto.com/blog to use the previous CE2 version of the wordpress plugin to show what I'm trying to accomplish.
Thanks again for your help,

where did you set this? In the Theme for Wordpress plug-in there's an option under Content Layout to Preview Full Post w/ Images.
But to actually get the full posts on your blog page you need to make that setting from the Theme Options in the Wordpress dashboard. It's in Basic Settings: Posts

Hi Rod
I set option in the Theme For Wordpress as above.
In the Theme Options/Basic Settings, Everything is checked (6 boxes)
I'm still not seeing the video on the blog home page -- I reset the blog to use the CE3 wordpress theme (chbbphoto.com/blog)
I also tried to republish a new, separate article with all the new settings -- same thing.
