Cloning Templates

I cloned a template from default and made some changes in the content area, ie replacing background image with solid color. Why are the changes did not take place when viewed?

Re: Cloning Templates

I assume that you selected the new template in the Page/Album/Album Set you are looking at.

Re: Cloning Templates

After clearing browser and template cache, problems still persist.

For the Contact page, it seems I can make changes in the content area (swapping background and changed text layout) after cloning from the default page. However, the dummy text still shows up even though I already cleared out pallet 01 and pallet 02 in the page settings.

Now about the 3 top galleries (Galleries, Guest and PVBC), also cloned from default, I can't make changes to the background like I did with the Contact page.

Re: Cloning Templates

Your Contact Page shows no dummy text in the pallets. There is some on the page though. If you’ve cleared it from the page, check the form; there’s dummy text with forms as well.

Re: Cloning Templates

About the top level gallery pages, I’m seeing the same background picture on them as your other pages.

Re: Cloning Templates

The Contact from is now cleared of dummy text after I cleared it in the forms. Thank you.

Now about the top level gallery pages, I don't what to have the same background image as the home page. After I created a new template by cloning the home page and then change the background from image to just solid color. When view, it still shows background image like my home page background. As a matter of fact, when I made background changes to home page, the changes will also reflect on the gallery pages. The way I see it, the galley pages is based of the same template as the home even though I created new templates just for the gallery pages.

Re: Cloning Templates

I can only guess without seeing what’s going on in your templates, but it sounds to me that you’re using the exact same page template for your top level gallery album set templates.
Double check that the page template for those album set templates is in fact your cloned page template.

If you’d like, post Guest Updater credentials so we can take a look.

Can you post them here so we don’t have to go looking for them?

It takes a username and password as outlined in the link I shared.

Re: Cloning Templates

So everything is working now? Are you doing away with the background image?

Re: Cloning Templates

I do want an image for home page but not top gallery pages. However, if I uploaded an image for home page, that same image will also displayed in top gallery pages. I guess the way cloned is not working out for me.

Re: Cloning Templates

It looks like you're using different page templates for your Home page and the Galleries page you've created. You can use different background images in each of those page templates to get what you're after.

One thing. You don't need to create a Galleries page. You can simply assign an Album Set template to the top-level gallery. Currently, the Galleries page has Default Album Set template assigned to it.

In your Menu Set, for the Galleries menu item, choose Album Set rather than URL under the Link To drop-down. Then choose the Album Set you want to use for the Galleries page.

If you do this, then it makes sense that the background picture you choose for the home page will also be the background for the Galleries page since the Home page and the Default Album Set are currently using the same page template (Default Page). So when you change the background image in the Default Page template, it will be applied to all pages and album and album set templates that use the Default Page template.

To avoid this, use a different page template for your album set template.

The other option to getting different backgrounds on different pages is custom css.
