If a photo comment contains a double quote character ("), it is displayed in a Vegas slideshow as ". If it has an ampersand (&), it is displayed as &.
Escaping them by using a backslash (\") does not resolve the issue.
While I can replace double quotes with single quotes (which display correctly), I have no substitute for the ampersand.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks! It is strange that it works for the single quotes but not for the other special characters. Somewhere in the code, the ampersand of some special character tokens such as the double quote is replaced by the ampersand token & and with this breaking the double quote token ". Really strange that this doesn't happen for the single quote.
Quote ', Double Quote ", Ampersand &, Less-than <, Greater-than >
Something for Matt and Ben to look at.

The problem with the ampersand is also present within the LRPublisher plugin in LR CC. If you had previously entered an ampersand in the description area (Base Settings => Album Description), and select "edit album" again for any reason, the ampersand becomes "&" in Lightroom. Select "edit album" again and it immediately becomes "&" - and continues adding an additional "amp;" each time you select 'edit album'. So if you enter an album from within Lightroom to change a setting, say to change the pricing scheme, if you had previously entered an ampersand in the description area - it WILL change, whether you notice it or not.
Additionally, I notice that editing an album (album text at least) in LR is somewhat hit or miss - sometimes the edits will appear online, sometimes they don't. Noticed this when I was testing the ampersand problem. Not sure if it's just my system or not, but it needs to be looked at.
If your album description does in fact change while using LR - and you notice the problem - you can successfully change the text by editing the album copy from within Backlight. But you have to notice the problem first.
Perhaps it's a VERY good thing that LR is no longer a requirement!

After installing Backlight 2.0.2, the issue is resolved. The special characters, "'&<>, now display correctly.
Thanks!
