Website slow

Hi all,

since a view weeks my website https://www.oliverblum.com is loading slow (loading time 1 min)
Strato support told me that there is file which slows down everything.
I deleted the whole site and installed a fresh backlicht + pages (latest)
Still slow with loading times of 17sec.

Any ideas before I change the provider???

Thanks a lot
Best regards,
Oliver

Re: Website slow

Rod,

I asked for that but instead he told me to download & check my log-file :-/
I opened the file but have no idea what to look for.

Shall I send you the file?

Best regards,
Oliver

php 7.2 has been causing problems for other users.
Here's one thread about it: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=8421

you could try reverting to php 7.1.2 or wait to see if Ben or Matt have any ideas.

Re: Website slow

the only difference I see between the two, is that the slower loading site is https.

I don't know what the performance differences are between http and https sites. Do the https sites have to load additional security stuff?

Re: Website slow

Exactly.
I dont think that the https loads additional security stuff. My other two websites rome-phototours.com and barcelona-phototours.com are also https sites with the same certificate but much faster also TTG Backlight version: 1.2.3 ???
Same Provider, same everything :-/

Re: Website slow

some news:

regarding to #2, the file is:
oliverblum.com/backlight/publisher/resource.php?template=6&extension=css&name=style which always redirects from http to https, I was told.

You can check here:-> tools.pingdom.com/#!/cgYmFY/https://oliverblum.com

Best regards,
Oliver

Re: Website slow

Hi Rod thank you for your reply.

I cleared the cache several times with no effect (also the browsers cache).
Yesterday I called the support again and talked to a technician.
He told me that there are a lot of redirects from http -> https caused through the resources.php in the backlight/publisher folder (you can try by testing www.oliverblum.com at this test site: https://tools.pingdom.com).
There is a 301 redirect in the settings of my provider. No additional redirect in the .htaccess.
The settings on https://www.oliverblum.com are the same as on my other domain https://barcelona-phototours.com, also the same symantec ssl certificate.

I copied the whole website into another folder, changed the company & site url and used my other domain http://oliverblum-photography.com to test it without https. Everything fine.

so could the problem be the ssl certificate which is from symantec??? Or what else can I check???

best regards,
Oliver

Re: Website slow

You might try Googling the problem too. Seems like it’s common

Re: Website slow

I just tried something like "ssl slowing site". Something like that.
You could also try "https slowing site"

Re: Website slow

I talked again to a technician, who told me that the failure is in the programmers php which will for what ever reson not correspond with the ssl certificate - I will not believe that because my other domains working fine with same certificates.

Hmmm :-(

Re: Website slow

And all your sites are using the very latest version of Backlight?

Regardless, I think this is something that Ben will need to weigh in on.
