Probably something obvious, but I can't see.
I created a new template, nothing changed in it though, just called it 'New Front Page'
Then I assigned it to my 'Home' page by selecting it from the drop down under 'Page Template' in the Design Page screen.
I can change things in the Design Template (Pangolin Page) menu, I can add a different album in the Design Page (Page Settings) menu too.
I try to change something in the Design Template (Album Settings) menus, like Presentation settings, and nothing gets updated.
It's like it's using a different album.
Auto refresh is on and manually refreshing doesn't change anything either.

Is there some other info I can post?
Thanks.
Edit:
I found this http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … ull-screen
but after following the instructions, selecting the Vegas Slideshow option still doesn't take.
The page has a mistake on it re. Search button disable - not an option on the Page design. I wonder if this is an old instruction page that is no longer valid.

I’ve read your post several times but still don’t have a clear idea of what you’re trying to do or where the problem is.
Is this for a standard album or for a Theater album?
Can you be more specific? Exactly what changes are you making?
The search button has been moved to the top-pallet so the instructions on the full-screen page template instructions is obsolete.

To summarize:
I created a new page template, which is assigned to the home page (Backlight/Designer/Page/Home/Design: Page Template = 'New Front Page' (the name of my new page template).
The new Album Template is assigned to 'New Front Page'
I try to change something in the Design Template (Album Settings) menus, like Presentation/Enable Controls but the site doesn't get updated.
The Presentation Type is set to Vegas Slideshow, which also doesn't work.

Have you created an album using the album template?
Even though you have a page template assigned to the front page, the fact that you’ve created an album template that uses “New Front Page” doesn’t mean an album is assigned to the front page.
In Pages, go to your front page. In the Designer, assign an album to the front page.
You first need to create that album though.
(The page you link to above has an album that is using a standard album template, not a Theater template)

I see. So I went to Lightroom and re-published the album - I think it's correct now, but I still don't get a slideshow.

the album is not using a Theater album template. double check the album template, make sure that the template you're using was made with Theater.

Oh I guess that is defined in Lightoom?
It's kind of confusing that some things have to be assigned in LR and not in Backlight - but I guess it's meant to be used with LR, so I get it, but still confusing at first!
But... I now have a slideshow!
The auto-refresh icon in the lower right and Backlight logo lower left are not there - I noticed that early on, is that a bug?
I will now try to fine tune the slideshow settings - I want to go full screen except for the menu items.
Oh, thanks for your help!

So you would expect that 'Full Screen' under the Vegas Slideshow settings would do just that. Is there a document on what that and 'Inline' actually mean? Selecting one or the other doesn't change anything.
Peter
Edit: Looks like I have to 'Clear Template Cache' (quite often) for things to appear properly.
So full screen shows images either side of a white rectangle - I guess that's a place holder in the page, that will have to be changed.

Matt's got some demos here: http://theturninggate.net/galleries/01- … strations/
you should be able to see the difference between full-screen and inline Vegas slideshows
the auto-refresh icon appears if you're logged in to Backlight. Are you logged in when viewing?

I'm not sure why you're getting a white rectangle in the page.

I had a setting wrong - it's fixed now.

Maybe when the slideshow is full screen, you don't see the auto refresh?
Or just maybe it's because I had the Bottom Pallet/Copyright off....
Doh!
