Backlight Site Up and Running -Thank you Matt and Ben

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, Matthew and Ben. Backlight is huge advance from CE4. My Backlight + Pages + Cart is up and running. I have removed from my hosting server all the files/folders that my old CE4-Pages-Gallery-Cart site used. An additional thank-you to Ben and Daniel, for patiently answering all of my questions with helpful guidance and inspiration.

My site uses:

-The Responsive Grid Layout (thanks Rod) on all pages using two columns
-Home page slide show using html(thanks Daniel)
-Background texture using CSS
-Media page including two embedded youtube videos that scale properly in small mobile device windows using html (thanks Daniel)

There were a few glitches and hiccups involved in creating my site and switching from CE4 to Backlight, but everything seems to be working.

One of the things I look forward to is the ability to experiment and test out layout changes on cloned pages, hidden from view to website visitors, until they are ready to be added to my site with a few mouse clicks.

Thanks, Matt

Now I plan on cloning the pages and trying out different page layouts. When I come up with a different look that I like, I will adjust the menu sets so they point to the revised pages. The ease in which Backlight allows this type of development gives me the freedom to explore new possibilities.

I really appreciate the work you and Ben put into developing Backlight. The speed with which I can create and modify a page in Backlight is multiple times faster than working in CE4.

Cheers, Ken. You clearly "get" it. Cloning templates and toying with hidden pages was definitely something that we intended for people to do. Don't know whether you've found this one yet, but if you delete a template that is currently in use, you have the have to reassign all albums to a new template. If you want to keep the template that you're deleting, then just clone a backup, then delete the active template to reassign albums, pages, etc. to the new thing. This makes it really easy to update a lot of things at once.

Hi Ken, your site looks great, and love the images. Great photography.

With that, I would like to know how you got the Home page slide show working to include the boarder and drop shadows. I love the way it looks and would like to use it for my site. I too am using Backlight, + Pages, + Theatre.

Anyway if you, or someone here, can show me how to set that up on my site, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks.

He's not using Theater for his slide show. I believe this is something Daniel came up with
