On several iPhones / iPads (safari) I can see the thumbnails from the album but no large image.
When tapping a thumbnail I see a grey page with the header with image indicator (x/100) and the share button.
No Image is shown. When swiping the indicator changes.
This is a clean install of Backlight, first album published.
I republished the album with no effect.
Any ideas?

Need a link to an album. Can't really say much unless we can see it.
One thing to check is your image file names. They should contain only letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. If you have things like spaces, parentheses, quotes, or other special characters, that can break things.

I've managed to locate the problem.
There was a file error in the .htaccess file.
After a re-upload of the file and a republish of the album everything works fine now.
