Hi is it still possible to have a slide show on the home page ? Also a plain white or coloured background is fine I suppose but is it possible to add background images like it was in CE3 ?
What I'm really asking is if I'm going to be able to recreate the site I made in CE3 with Backlight

Hi Paulo,
At present, Backlight does not include slideshow functionality. It will come later, in a Stage-type add-on. For now, the only available gallery types are those shown in our demos. You can embed such a gallery on your Home page, though, and it's really, really easy.
Background images are not configurable from within Backlight, but can be achieved using custom CSS. I might be able to add support for background images in a future update. We have image upload functionality for other things, so it's probably something we can do if people want it.

If you added a background image in CE3, then you will defiantly be able to do it with Backlight. You will need custom CSS just as Mat pointed out, however, implementing custom CSS is a little easier in Backlight. and you can learn how Graceson does it by just taking a peek as his css file. Just view the page source and click on the link to the custom css file.
I should probably make a post about how to do this on my ttg-tips site (unless Graceson gets around to it first on his blog).

That's great thanks for the replies. I look after my partners site and in the past with CE3 it has been a bit of a headache when I haven't done it for a while and have to remember what to put where when making changes. With Backlight it looks to be a simpler operation. I just know she will want the site to look the same, so before I make the change to Backlight just need to check I still have the flexibility. She uses the CRG of CE3 I suppose I can still keep a link to that before CRG for backlight comes out ?

Yes, I'd just make a point of publishing those galleries and Backlight's galleries in separate folders.

Thanks for the relies, It would be good to have a slideshow on the home page and be able to easily publish new images to the slide as and when. Hopefully this will come. A quick way to publish a background image without css would be great also. Fingers crossed

Once you have the css set up, it's pretty easy to change out images. You could just name whatever image you're using the same, say "background-image.jpg". Put it in a folder like /img/ . When you want to swap it, just process a new image, name it background-image.jpg, and upload it to the /img/ folder.
also, I'm thinking that the best (maybe only) way of adding a background image is via css. And you'll have the background properties available like attachment, position, and repeat to use
