Can't quit LR after using CE4

Just bought CE4 and learning how to use it. Everytime I use CE4 then try to quit LR - I can't. The quit is grayed out. I have to force quit LR.

Using Mac, El Capitan, and MBP as well as iMac.

Excuse me if it something obvious.

Thanks

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

This is something I've not heard of before. When you say "The quit is grayed out", exactly what do you mean?

Have you tried quitting LR via the Menu? (On Windows I can go to File > Exit, not sure what it is on a Mac)

Have you tried the Mac Exit shortcut CMD-Q ?

What happens if you leave the Web Module? Are you able to quit LR then?

What version of LR are you using?

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

Command Q does nothing, On the menu bar under "File" the Quit command is grayed out. Using LR 6. I can move around in LR without problems, except the inability to quit. If I force quit LR, open it again and stay away from the web module, I can quit .
I know - weird. I'm sure it's something on my end.

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

Have you tried using any of the standard web galleries included with Lightroom? Like the Classic Gallery?
Just wondering if it has something to do with the Web Gallery itself or just the TTG plug-ins.

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

Well, the plot thickens. If I restart LR, go to any of the non-CE4 web galleries, I can quit LR through the menu. If I use the CE4 gallery, I can go to other modules, other web galleries, etc. but then I can't quit LR. I have to force quit.
Obviously, it's something with my setup because no one else is reporting it. If you have any ideas, I appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

Looks like it's limited to the TTG plug-ins. But I've never encountered in nor have I ever seen it mentioned in the forum.

You could try trashing the preferences file. That often fixes all sorts of Lightroom weirdness

I agree - weird. I will let you know what happens. Will be a day or two before I can get back at it.
Thanks

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

I've experienced this as well, fairly regularly when I'm working on the plugins. This is something that has only begun happening since the release of Lightroom 6, which is to say that it was not a problem I ever had in LR5. There seems to be a bug in LR6/Mac that will occasionally freeze the application when attempting to quit via the Web module.

I have, ages ago, submitted a bug ticket on this to Adobe. They have given exactly zero shits.

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

I've had this happen every time I ran an import, which wasn't related to TTG.  Put it down to flakey software.

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

I trashed the LR preference file - no joy. Still can't quit LR (unless I force quit.)
Saw this post  http://community.theturninggate.net/top … g-gallery/
So I made my thumbnail widths equal. Both = 200 px, was 200 wide, 150 high.)

Now - I can quit LR!!!! Not sure what the hell that has to do with the problem.
I do notice that when I use other web gallery plugins, I do not get spinning wheel (I am on Mac) I get spinning wheel every time I update CE4 and it is much slower.

I think there is some problem with LR......

Re: Can't quit LR after using CE4

Adobe has never shown a lot of love and caring toward the Web Module...

I do notice that when I use other web gallery plugins, I do not get spinning wheel (I am on Mac) I get spinning wheel every time I update CE4 and it is much slower.

TTG web plugins have a lot more going on behind the scenes.

I get frustrated too. Lightroom's performance with the TTG plug-ins seems pretty inconsistent. For me, things usually go smoothly, but sometimes Lightroom just really slows things down to the point it's not responsive. Checking system resources show that Lightroom is hogging memory. (which it can also do when I'm not in the Web Module)
Sometimes I have to force quit just to clear memory. As Matt said, Adobe seems to give zero shits.
