Re: Getting Started - usage of CRG (standalone) is unclear to me

Hi Daniel,

Due to (apparent) lack of documentation for other methods, I must assume that if I use CRG standalone, I  always need to create a gallery using the web module of LR and upload the entire gallery to my web server manually?

Yes. If you get Publisher you'll be able to use that instead of needing to export and upload each gallery. This is just like CE4 Gallery: http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … and_upload

Or is there an (undocumented?) way to just export images and upload them somewhere, and CRG does the rest of the work on server-side, using the template? I didn't find any documentation of such a method.

Only if using Publisher

It is recommended to install the Publisher module. As far as I could see, this would enable me to just use a publisher service in LR to upload (even one-way-sync) a collection of photos to CRG and let CRG do the rest of the work?

Nearly correct. The Publish service will use a CRG template you've uploaded to create the album, just like it does with CE4 Gallery or CE4 Stage. The online CRG component adds the extra CRG management and feedback features.

...but if CE4 is capable of replacing Koken for me, I'd switch, I guess, to have only one system for everything. However, I first need to understand that system.

See if this helps make more sense of it:

To better understand the different CRG deployment options, this blog post should make it clear:
