Pages > Appearance > the Gallery > Galleria:
check the showInfo box
Also experiment with the showInfo on load box

an "i" icon will appear in the upper right of the slideshow when you hover over it. Click on this to see the captions. If loadInfo on load is checked, the captions will appear automatically and you can then click on the "i" icon to make them disappear.

the caption area is an overlay at the bottom of the picture. You might be able to adjust its location with custom css. I've not had great luck with it though.
