CE4 Gallery with slide show

I would like to have a slide show at the top of my page with my iconic thumbnails underneath. Is there a way to do this that I've overlooked or has someone an idea how one can build this into a template?

It would be like a Stage with galleria slide show above and Ce4 gallery under but on the same page.

off the top of my head:

Use the stand-alone version of Galleria (or some other slideshow program) and use phplugins to replace the block of a CE4 Gallery.
