Small annoyance/feature request

Publisher creates Thumbnail (and other directories) on the server as 755. Owned by Apache, with the group being Apache.

Is is possible to have publisher set permissions to 775 so that (via ftp) I can modify the contents of directories (my login is part of the apache group)

This is kinda important when creating nested published albums, as it is necessary to manually add thumbnails to the parent thumbnails directory (assuming there is no way to have auto index traverse each directory looking for thumbnails). Or when publishing panoramas when one needs to delete one thumbnail

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

Ben may correct me, but I don't think that's possible. Rather, you should look into our custom thumbnail support in CE4.

That could work in some instances. However (and it may be something I don't understand), what I thought was a pattern of nested auto indexes breaking thumbnails, is actually something else. I'll start a new thread so as to help some one else if they run into it.

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

I should also note that the custom-thumbnails directory is also 755, so I can't put anything in it.

additionally, it does not appear that published albums converted from CE3 have custom-thumbnails directories (which I suppose means I can fix those)

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

this must be host specific. My album sets are set at 755 and I have no problems uploading thumbnails to individual set's thumbnails folders. (I'm with Bluehost)
Same with the custom-thumbnails/ directory in the galleries/ folder

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

Who is the owner of the directories? It's Apache in my case

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

Bluehost should set the ownership of the directories to your own account.  In my case, everything is owned by 'somexxxx' (where xxxx is the rest of my account name).

galleries/custom-thumbnails should be a directory that you create via FTP, and therefore always writeable by you.  This is not the same folder as custom_thumbnails found within each album.  Any image placed within galleries/custom-thumbnails can be used as the cover image for any album.

THAT is extremely helpful. That was unclear.

Re: Small annoyance/feature request

If you're using Pages, the custom-thumbnails folder is automatically created. If it makes a difference whether or not you create the folder on the server, I suppose you could delete it from your computer before uploading the Pages assets.
