Single Image - Photo Size

Hi all,

I am trying to reduce the size of an image displayed in the single-image view.

I go to Album Template - Select the template I am using and then change the numbers in - Image Renditions - Photos, but the image presented on the screen doesn't appear to change.

I have single image pages selected also in - photo presentation.

Am I working with the right setting here to change the size of the image displayed in - single-image view?

Thank you,
Chumby.

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Don’t forget to republish the images after making changes in the template

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Hi Rod,

My album image for both the slideshow and single view image is now smaller than I like.  Can you just confirm where I make this image size change?

So ny process:

1) Make size changes at Image Renditions in Album Template(s) (default and search are my templates here)
2) Delete current photos in Album
3) Update album files through backlight2 settings
4) Republish photos (using backlight publisher).

Anything I am missing?  Have tried to clear caches, uses different browsers etc but still the same.

Cheers

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Can you include a link to an album?

Since you’re using Backlight Publisher rather than Lightroom, are you exporting your images from whatever image editing program you’re using so that they’re at least as large as the rendition sizes you set in the album template?

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Hi Rod,

The Album can be found at - https://www.tasmanianphotos.com/tasmania/stock/images/

I am uploading images 1200 * 900 and have the photo width and height set at 760.

The image size isn't changing no matter what values I put in here.

Does that help?

Cheers

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

and you changed the image size settings in the album template named SearchResultsAlbum and republished to the tasmania/stock/images album?

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Ah - that is an old template name, Rod.  Doesn't exist anymore.  The two album templates I have are:

- Defaut Album
- Search Alblum

Whrere can I update this setting to reflect the new album templates?

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

according to the page source code, that's the name of the template assigned to the album you linked to.

You can change that template assigned to the album.
In Backlight, go to Publisher. Click on Albums for the top level gallery the album is in.
click on the name of the album.
Click on Edit Album.
Click on Base Settings. You can change the album template there.
Once you assign the correct template to that album, you may need to republish.

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Hi Rod,

Yes gone through this procedure.

The only options I see there are the current templates that I have.  ie.

- Default Album and Search Album.  No sign of SearchResultAlbum

I have deleted photos and uploaded photos with no change.

When you say replublish, do you mean delete the album totally, create a new album (even with same name) and then upload images again?

Chumby

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Republish means to re-upload the images.

Did you assign one of your existing album templates to that album?

If you look at the body tag in the albums source code you'll see the page and album templates assigned:

<body class="pangolin type-album template-id-1 template-identifier-DefaultPage album-template-id-3 album-template-identifier-SearchResultsAlbum slug-images cart-unready crg-unready" data-layout="2col left">

In this case the album template is album-template-id-3 and the named identifier (That you can fill out when creating the album) is album-template-identifier-SearchResultsAlbum. Those two identify the same template, just two different ways of doing it.

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Thanks Rod, yes I thought it just ment to re-upload the images in order to republish.

Yes - I have assigned the "Default Album" album template to the album.  I selected this in the "Template" dropdow (edit Alblum - Base Settings).  The only two options here are "Default Album" and "Search Album".  I can't assign "SearchResultsAlbum" anyway because it is not an option.

This has me confused - I am looking at the right album (as I only have one - with the slug images).

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

I can't tell why that album still has the SearchResultsAlbum template assigned to it.

I'd be happy to take a look at the backend to see if I can find anything obvious. Feel free to email me Backlight admin or guest updater credentials using the email link under my name and picture.

Or you could try deleting and recreating the images album. Start out fresh with one of your two album templates.

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

When you deleted photos from the album prior to uploading replacements, how did you delete them?

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Hi Rod,

Through the Publisher function in the admin section in recnt times ... but when I set up the site (thinking back) images could of been uploaded/deleted through ftp...

Although .... just thinking now... that would of just replacing non watermarked images with watermarked images.  All deleting was done via publisher.

Cheers,
Chumby

Re: Single Image - Photo Size

Hi Rod,

Deleted the album, refreshed evything, then created a new album and reloaded in the pictures.

Change size if images seems to be working now for any new images that I hadn't clicked on.  Smaller images still appearing and must be in the cache somewhere.  I am sure they will clear out eventually.

Really appreciate your help on this one.

Cheers,
Chumby.
